I don't have a lift either and just built an extension for my floor jack so that I can raise the car up a few inches more than usual.
Then I used cheap bottle jacks that I had laying around to hold up the sections and tack welded all the joints (all were overlap, I also bought a pipe stretcher to do that).
Then I'd unbolt it and finish welding off the car.
Doing mig welding is really pretty easy on overlapped 16ga. I never once came close to burning through and I am getting good penetration.
In the end, I paid as much for all of this as I would have for a Comptech exhaust. The welder was about $600 with the bottle and it was refurbished (Lincoln 175T) but I've also got a chain link fence to put up so it's going to come in handy for other things.
If you do decide to get a welder, don't go too low end. The duty cycle is an important thing to look at. I decided on 240V for that reason and just bought an extension cord so it reaches anywhere in my garage. If you get one with too low of a duty cycle, it'll be cutting out on you all of the time. I never had that happen using it in the mid power range.

So did you just buy prebent pipings then just cut out piece you did not need? or did you use straight pipes and have a bender?
errr i really need my own garage or something...need more space...
Thanks alot for all the info KN_TL

Ok so I decided to get another exhaust setup....damnit I'm turning into Tim
I love the way it sounds now but the drone is killer and look isn't for my TL
Ok so not sure about looks but definitely rolled tips, either quads or just dual setup. Going for more the classy than the "performance" look since that's kinda what the rest of the car looks like.
I also want a SICK tone, something unique. I don't want deep or loud loud but something with a nice, even higher pitched(not ricer) tone.
Any suggestions? I want to really really think it out before I do this now haha

lol jk
try...flowmasters?? i think chambered mufflers produce more of a tone rather than deepness....usually aftermarket mufflers are filled with sound deadening baffles which produce these deep sounds...oem mufflers are chambered which produce extraordinary sounds.....idk how flowmasters would work....but idk i see flowmasters on 100% usdm cars only
maybe u can buy oem mufflers off some other honda/ car and weld in rolled tips?? lol...other than that im utterly clueless
HAHA i see u have spanky too

hhahah yeah thats why i did it
Yeah, I'd do the OEM mufflers, but I want more sound than that though. Plus rolled tips on OEM mufflers are always angled upwards, which looks good but kinda awkward
btw come on AIM haha

Jesus christ fizzle just when I thought we'd moved on to suspension you go and switch it up again... granted don't count me out... don't be surprised if I end up going with some nice polished tip quads...

Then just used a big pipe cutter and sawzall to make everything fit. I spent an extra $100 on a pipe stretcher so that I could overlap the joints, install it unwelded in the car, jack it all up where I wanted it and then tacked it all while in place. Then I could complete the welds standing up!
I ended up messing up on an angle in the rear so I simply cut the overlap just below the original weld and was able to correct it with little effort.
I'm also working on a chain link fence so the welder is going to come in handy there as well. All of the piping is 16ga just like what I just worked with.

dudes I am anti quads but have moved on to suspension as well... that doesn't mean I will go out and get some crazy stuff done...
whatever it will be will involve the hushpower resonator so that I won't have to worry about drone and kill it the first time...
total I spend $90 on stage 3 dynomax res included
$200 on the skunk2 mufflers 100 each
$90 to put em in
and another 50 to put the stock mid muff back on w./out the dynomax res
not too bad for a custom catback... anything under $500 works for me
