A Spec replacement or not?

Just got rear ended this morning by a guy not paying attention. Bumper will probably have to be replaced, and wanted to know if I got the A spec one instead, would it be about the same price as the OEM bumper, and would it look ok without any other A spec part. Would that be like buying one rim at a time? It is getting appraised on Friday, then let the insurance fun begin!

The rear A-spec section fits in addition to your rear bumper....so your still gonna have to get it fixed. It is not a bumper replacement....but an addition.

I see. So depending on the appraisal and dealership I take it to, I might be able to afford it the additonal part without any out of pocket. Would that look alright though?

Not sure....depends. Most dealerships work from the insurance appraisal so its not like they are gonna hand over their profit to you. And in most cases they have to put in for additional supplementals anyway...so most likely they are gonna get most if not all you intially get from the insurance company, if you go to a good body shop anyway. Plus, unless you have no-deductible comp....you are gonna have to figure that into the equation also....

Unless the other guys insurance is fixing the car and you are dealing with them directly instead of your own....then they probably didnt give you enough to start with! They'll give you $600 and you will find it takes $850 or something to fix it! Thats why most people work through their own company.....supplementals and the whole process just works smoother.
