Some S/c Questions

Im honestly thinking about a super charger for my 04 tl. Currently it has 51k miles, just renewed the warranty. Is it worth it? Does it effect the car in any way? Is it going to make my car die quicker? Snap warranty? Is 51k miles to much for it? Or instead of super charger should i just go for little things such as intake spacer resonator pro cats etccc..??

acuratien has over 100K on the motor with the SC on, his is still running strong. The SC will void warranties, but only if it can be proven that the SC did it. But if the SC is installed by Acura, the maintain most of the warranty except for motor issues such as pinging or bent rods and such. As long as the car is tuned properly, it should not have any harmful affects to the car. I would advise waiting for the Hondata reflash to be available, it add a lot more power to the charger and the car runs smoother, as well it fixes the surging issues. How much money are you willing to spend? I would first go with a better exhaust, sway-bar upgrades, better tire and lightweight rim package, and a few other mods besides the AEM intake, spacers and Ur underdrive pully (stock size is what you will need if you want to buy). Then when hondata releases the reflash, get the charger and reflash and you will be set. Thats my opinion of it.

forgot that, but still, the hondata flash is the perfect tune for the TL, the comptech one had the car running a bit rich, destroying the cats, and there were surging issues too.

Supercharge is safe... If you install it as designed from Comptech.

meance... You're killing me. You make these post like you have experience in any of this.

1) A supercharger installed by dealer does not imply you maintain your warranty. There are only a handful of dealers that will even attempt it, even fewer that will honor a warranty on the car afterwards. They may "say" your warranty stays intact, but there's not a dealer out there that will touch a warranty claim on your drive train with a SC on it (except one of the 2 that sells Comptech stuff).

2) Hondata's the perfect tune? How's that? There are 2 guys with it right now. Sure, it's probably better, but noone has assesed the longevity impact of the flash. I'm sure it smoothes out the power delivery (the surging you reference), but the bottom end of the TL is pretty much at the limit, based on the posted design documents from Honda (Atrains post). Adding 60 + 50 more HP I think will be the end of the rods when pushed hard. Not to mention,.. it completely voids any and all warranty that Comptech provides on your SC as well.

3) SC isn't destroying cats. Meth injection is destroying cats. Everyone who's had a cat degredation issue reported using meth injection.

Either way, your reccomending a vaporware product, that noone has really assessed yet.

To the OP. Get a SC. It's a safe 60 HP power maker. You can get the Hondata reflash when it's available and proven.

Well, Given that you own the SC, you must be more knowledgeable about this. I though that it was the excess fuel that destroyed the cats, but my mistake. I thought that the Hondata flash would be safer as it eliminates the surging, meaning less sudden changes in the motor and tuning doesn't make the car run rich. The dealership I go to told me that since they sell comptech parts they will warranty everything as long as it is installed there, I even asked the Service manager this and he reconfirmed that statement. His actual words were, comptech parts are designed for the honda/acura brand and if installed here where we know that it is installed properly, we will honor the vehicle warranty, but only if comptech parts are installed ONLY. BTW, my experience in this is just reading about it here.... Also sorry for killing you, I believe my gun was pointed in the wrong direction

ALL in all there are some very good points above.. I agree you could kiss your warrenty good bye.

As far as longevity, well there are two parts to that question. Yes your car may last as long as it would have without the supercharger. BUT at the same time your motor will need a good rebuild I.E. new valves, valve seals, piston rings, ECT. Now if you dont rebuild that doesnt mean your car will or will not blow up, but it may eventually start consuming more and more oil, blowing black sutt and white smoke, and lose performance.

When it comes to forced induction yes the first question is always what are my gains, whats the reliability, which are great questions.. but DONT forget to research/ find out about what kind of maintenince/replacing of parts you will need to do over a certain period of time.

Agian not all people will rebuild... but ask your self, do i want to do it right? or gamble with a 4-6 grand motor.
