Simple poll (ATLP or CT)

I can't make up my mind for sh*t. Leaning towards ATLP base but I'm just looking for something that isn't ridiculous loud, a nice tone - ok really I'm looking for something similar to a g35 Vote and add your opinion if you feel necessary.

A couple more noob questions-

If I buy the exhaust and don't have any other fancy jazz (yet) ((ie: J-pipe, deletes..etc..)) it'll be all good with everything else stock except new exhaust?

If that was a little confusing let me know.

As a former CT exhaust owner I'd be able to better answer this question in a few weeks when the ATLP Base exhaust comes in and gets installed.

I voted ATLP... But I'm biased, I have one on order.

Also, I too only have the exhaust so far. But I'm gonna wait until I get my J-Pipe and Test Pipe before I get it installed. Might as well do it all at the same time... IMHO.

Def Comptech FTW!............Everybody else in this thread is crazy! Its one big plot against CT. When I decided to get an exhaust I went with ATLP cause it's mass produced & cheaper. CT exhaust is over priced & rare. I dunno brother youll just have to make up your own mind! Make CT proud!

Everyone here seems to be on ATLP's nuts with the quad/base Exhaust. For months I wanted the quads simply because it was so talked about on these forums. It however, is a nice exhaust but to loud for my liking. I want to keep my ride classy looking and sounding. That is why I went with the CT exhaust. IMO it is the best sounding.

Just make sure you listen to both in person before you decide. THese online sound clips don't do either CB justice!

+1 I give props to ATLP in the performance department. But I like the CT better, because it's a great compromise between sound and performance.

BTW, I have heard both in person. I was in a car with the ATLP quads (sound).

You may want to look into Excelerate's resonated version too. Looks similar to Comptech (but with flatter, more neatly tucked mufflers) and probably better quality than Comptech as well. It's also priced lower than ATLP. As far as loudness goes, it falls somewhere in between the two.

After hearing how loud the ATLP quad sounded. I realized I wanted what everyone else wanted, but not what I really needed and wanted! As I said above, I wanna keep my ride classy. Notice the ages of everyone who owns or wants the quads. Taste changes when You hit 28+.

It would be interesting to know what led to the change in heart from CT to ATLP. I hear some are going back to CT after a bad experience with ATLP.

+1 My thoughts exactly. Enjoy the loud exhaust when you guys are still punks. That stuff doesn't do much for your wives or career when you mature. See comments above... unless you work in a garage.

I'm over 30 and consider myself mature, although a performance nut when it comes to anything with a gas burning engine. I'm getting the ATLP base because it's the first that satisfies my attraction to the stock base model tips. ATLP has good performance and I'm hoping that a catback will bring back some low end punch that shifted after installing pre-cats.

It may be a tad loud at first but all those that have been tracking any of the exhaust threads knows full well that if it's loud or droning...Aero AR25 that sucker. As for the wife - it's not her car and if she doesn't like the sound, what's the worst that will happen? She won't want to drive it anymore? Darn...

As for career, I don't think most aftermarket exhaust customers are posting because they're worried about how it will affect their client car or company lease.

It's just the way you say things, Jeff. Re-read your last statement. Guys over 28 buying these pipes purely for the sound are immature punks that work in a garage.

I don't work in a garage and I take offense to that. Any greasy, immature mechanics want to chime in?

As for OP: Get the ATLP, you're young, probably don't give a about sound being too loud or nothing like that.

+1. I'll chime in. I take offense to that as well. I have a loud exhaust. As a matter of fact, I'm straight-piped all the way through with an ATLP Race-Pipe in place of my third cat. Does that make me immature? Does that make me a punk?

I don't have to prove my level of maturity to anybody. Anybody who's ever met me on this forum...tell me if you think I'm a "punk". I'd like to know...

I don't work in a garage, although I do significant amount of "wrenching" in my personal garage...Of the two, I'll go ATLP all day. If I had a third option, GReddy, then I'd go with that ALL DAY.

I agree with you, Ned. Acura Jeff seems to have an attitude for no reason...

Calling people "punks" because of their exhausts is totally IGNORANT.

Are all of the muscle car fans here in America who have pushrod V8's with exhausts/engines 3x louder than ours punks? Or, better yet, shouldn't they all be considered 3x the "punk" those with ATLP exhausts are? What about all those bikers who drive hogs. Didn't Harley Davidson even try for a time to "patent" their EAR DRUM SHATTERING SOUND? At least they stopped that back in June of '00. If ATLP exhaust owners are punks, what does that make muscle car drivers with their Magnaflows/Flowmasters? Better yet, what does that make all of the bikers who ride on Harleys? Harleys are MUCH louder than any car exhaust, period.

Like I mentioned...Acura Jeff made an ignorant statement. He might not be an ignorant person, but based on his post, I think we can see who's the "punk".

If you're not a punk Acura Jeff, you AT LEAST SOUND LIKE AN IGNORANT INDIVIDUAL.

I voted for ATLP because I have purchased one. I haven't heard either one in person but am hoping that with a resonator ATLP isn't too loud. I will have the hi flow 3rd cat so hopefully that will take some of the "loudness" out too. I would even add a mid muffler if I had to. If it comes down to it I would part with the ATLP and go with a comptech but I have to try it first to know. Mike put a lot of time into it and has given me excellent customer service with the other products I've bought from him. I wouldn't bail on ATLP due to anything but the sound if I couldn't get it right.

For a 42 year old man YOU are sounding like more of a "punk" than anybody else in this thread. Buying a exhaust is not going to make or break anybody. "Unless you work in a garage"? Who do you think you are, to judge somone because of their lifestyle choice? People on this forum have more love for theiir cars than you ever could. Come to think of it why are you here? Go home and make the wife happy. Im sure everything is popping at the house. God forbid you buy an exhaust to feel young again!

Ned, please do not attempt to twist my words. I did not say that. Please go back and re-read. Your efforts to twist things and solicit support from other enthusiasts to comment against me worries me.

I would continue to encourage you to refrain from this type of behavior... I believe you were counseled about this recently. Also, you do not need to PM me. I am trying very hard to respect your disability but please do not continue these attempts. Thanks.
