Simple Exhaust Mod Question

I have a 08 TL-S 6spd. I like how the stock exhaust sounds, but I had an idea the other day which I'm sure plenty of memembers here have done, my question is if I remove the 2 resonators and just install a straight pipe will my exhaust sound alittle louder? If so will will it sound alittle deeper? I'm not looking for my car to sound like your regular street Honda racer with the straight pipe that sounds like a tin can, I'm looking for just alittle deeper sound thats all nothing more nothing less, I'm not trying to get extra HP out of this.

start by removing the Mid Muffler, then if you want more replace the stock resonator with either a dynomax or magnaflow resonator. there are 2 different dynomax resonators ppl are using 24215 and 24235, the 24215 is shorter.

There's plenty of places to look for the exhaust stages and what to remove and even includes sound clips

Yes I'm aware but i figure let me get everybody opinon on the best setup instead of going to each thread where everybody agrees to that 1 thread that that is the best setup.

agreed with zach.

the best setup is not doing what you planned on doing....

Well this all depends, in his original thread he stated he wants nothing more than just to get a little deeper tone. Since thats the case I would agree that doing a simple "stage" exhaust mod might be best.
The best for performance without money being a factor then absolutely aftermarlet catback and a Jpipe would be best. IMO though most of the catbacks for our V6's just sound like shit. The only one that I have heard so far that sound respectable is the new RV6 true dual, but you better be ready to fork out $1600+ and months of waiting. Or for about 50 bucks you can tinker with the stock exhaust and probably get exactly what he wanted...a deeper tone.

Exactly, I'm not looking for extra HP, if I get extra HP thats fine if I don't it's still fine, but I do like the look of the Stock TL-S exhaust tip and I do not want to change it,I was thinking of changing the Jpipe if this was to help me get alil more aggresive sound, but if removing and changing the Res&Cat will help then this might just be fine for me.

Another question is will I get any Cabin Noise if I do remove the Cat & Res???

Just changing the jpipe to say for example the RV6 V3 that deletes the 3rd cat doesnt really change the exhaust note. I had one on a previous Type S I had and noticed little to no change. I made a similar post a while back and seems like everyone said the best way to go about it is to start with removing the mid muffler (stage 1). If you like it like that then your done, but whats nice is if its not enough then you can move onto "stage 2". Change the resonator to whatever people use dynomax or magnaflow. You seem like me and know exactly what you want and I have a feeling either stage 1 or stage 2 would be what your looking for. Keep the Type S tips, geta little different exhaust note, and all for pretty cheap.

I have an 08 TL-S as well and that is not the move!!! If you want cheap modifications meaning not spending a shit ton on an new exhaust system, dynomax resonator and mid muffler delete is the way to go. I had the regular type s mufflers and deleted both the resonator and mid muffler and when you stepped on the peddle it farted with that tin can rasp you're talking about, but then from there sounded great. The dynomax will eliminate that, and eventually once you add a j-pipe or pcds it will sounds even better and perform better. Now i have a straight pipe with custom magnaflow mufflers and tips, can't sound any better

I agree, the catbacks aren't worth they money over other mods and don't sound that special. If I wanted every single HP I could squeeze out I'd probably go custom for much less money, for now the stage mods do make the car sound better for not much money. Whatever you do it's still gonna sound like a Honda and not deep V8 muscle.

Hardly any cabin noise, these cars are quiet at low RPM and scream at high RPM. If you're flooring it I'm sure you'd want to hear it then but day to day with no rear mufflers and a Dynomax res I can drive around and not annoy myself in the cabin or anyone outside. With the stereo near a quarter way up I don't even hear my exhaust unless I'm really on it. I did my J pipe before I touched anything on the catback, I didn't notice much difference, it seemed a little bit deeper and had a slightly more aggressive tone when you got on it but no one would ever notice unless you told them. Only difference I could really tell from J pipe only was I spun the tires driving home from my uncle's where I installed it, first time I had gotten them to spin lol.

thanks for all this info guys, I'm thinking now about the ATLP V2 exhaust but my local shop can't get it so I think I might just end up deleting the res & mid muffler, I'm wait it out a few more days or weeks to see but I want to do it before i take the car back to the body shop. So i have some more time to do more HW

New user. Ha. I have the atlp j pipe and an intake installed on my 07 tl. Everything else exhaust wise is stock. Was looking into a catback setup but there a little expensive. Atleast the ones I'm looking at. Any suggestions on what to get or do next? Websites or anything?

Did you get the race pipe with your atlp jpipe that deletes 3rd cat?? if so i would just delete the mid muffler and be done. doing the stage 3 mod with 3rd cat delete becomes raspy. I believe there was a thread about the 24235 dynomax resonator reducing/eliminating rasp so you could go that route. not really sure what you are wanting tho. sound or performance?

Tsudo

Its worth mentioning that you can get a Tsudo catback for these cars for around 350. From what I have heard of the exhaust note, it produces a bit deeper of a sound but it is not very loud and has minimal drone.

Let me know if you've achieved that slightly deeper tone, perhaps post a video.
