Should I install catback exhuast before J-Pipe?

This is my dilemna: I have a J-Pipe coming in next week but I am itching to get my catback exhuast from XLR8 put in. I'm going to hire a guy to help me get the three rusted nuts that bolt the front pipe with the j-pipe. For those of you who've installed this yourself, should I

a) wait for the j-pipe to come in before installing the BB exhaust or

b) install the BB exhuast first and then instsall the j-pipe when it comes in

Thanks guys,

Joe

Personally, if you're *GOING* to do both, then it's not a huge deal whether you do one before the other.

If it was one or the other, I'd probably go with the cat-back first. I would tend to think that you would be running into a bottle-neck having the J-pipe without the cat-back.

Have you thought about the pre-cat deletes to help take full advantage of the J-pipe?

If you can resist the urges then wait. If you can't, install them already!! I installed my race pipe and ATLP exhaust without the j pipe.

I would say wait, and do it all at once. This way you don't have to worry about jacking the car back up and getting under it once again. Wait it out man.

j-pipe only? Not really... If you had precat deletes alone, however, that's the biggest difference.

Actually that's a misleading statement. The j-pipe makes more tq generally than the pre-cat deletes but about 5 less hp. So if you can feel the pre-cat deletes then you can feel hte gains of the j-pipe.

It should be noted and clarified as to how the gains of each component are measured, meaning:
every after market component/upgrade done on stock exhaust setup vs. other exhaust mods.

Installing cat deletes on a completely stock exhaust, would not be the same as installing them when your catback is larger, with different resonators and mufflers.
Same thing goes for the Jpipe.
Same thing goes for catback exhaust.

Each component will show different based on the rest of your setup.
Too much confusion when someone will state that the dyno showed them a 20 hp from the Jpipe, while they had a 3" catback
And someone else will report their Jpipe dyno showing 10 hp, with their stock setup.

Im simply trying to say that, the rest of the entire exhaust should be considered along with your gains.

My stock Jpipe open shows 27 WHP gain over the straight through out the tail pipes exhaust...but it would not show 27 whp difference when open, if my catback was 3" . Im pretty sure you understand what I'm trying to say

So if someone asked me "what gains can i expect from cat deletes", my response would be "it depends on the rest of your exhaust setup"

what is bottle necking? my catback wont be here either for a month, so I am also getting the j pipe first. I am wondering if I will get this bottle necking from the j pipe alone with the oem set up. I dont mind putting on the j pipe and then waiting for the exhaust to come in but not if it is going to slow my car down
