Short shifter for 08 TL-S

Anyone put a short shifter on? Which brand? Do you like it? I loved the short shifter in my 97 Altima.. the stock throw on the Acura is much shorter, but a shorter throw is always better. Opinions?

Comptech makes one and you can get it through excelerate or heel toe here. I considered buying one but I couldn't figure how much I would benefit from it since the car is from wheel drive and harder, quicker shifts would be more apt to lose traction. My logic could be flawed though...I do love how short throws feel.

I personally think you are right... however, I do love the feel of it, hence why I want one.

The short shifter with the weighted knob is the way to go.

That was my first mod.

Yeah, it's looking to be my first mod. I'm thinking short shifter or progress rsb... those were the first mods i did on my other car... however, i never touched the engine.. on this one i might mess around with that a bit... but we shall see...

what kind of weighted shift knob did you get?

Comptech is pretty much the only company who makes one. We have a bunch in stock if you want one.

Cool man. Thanks for the heads up. The CT one is cheaper though, by about $20 bucks, and excelerate sells it. Technically I'm trying to find gifts I'd like to receive for my birthday... however, if I don't get it I'll probably just buy it myself

I might work for the TL. My CT kit was bought from an acura dealer. It was label for the 6MT TSX, but it worked on my car just fine.

This is a forum to help people out. He just commented it was a TSX SS. There really isn't a need to be sarcastic with people just b/c they didn't know something.

Yes, the TSX SS, at least the CT one, also fits the TL. They are interchangeable; the instructions for installation are just different and the TSX install is more difficult.

Ahh yes, I forgot about the red text for sarcasm.

Your posts are appreciated and your help in determining what fits is also appreciated. It's good for us all to work together to help inform others.

I really don't remember where I got it from and paid top dollar because at the time, they were in short supply.

I just did a quick ebay search and there are a ton of them out there for around $50.00.

Cool Well your ALMOST there!!!

OK now,,, the short throw is a start. A good start. But not the whole deal. You NEED this part also. Makes the TL feel like it is a gated shifter. Time after time....

Now as for the heavy weighted shift knob. Your half right again. But, the ball is going to slip between you fingers. It happens when you least want it to. Like when your really on it. I think the only answer is a throwback from the 50's or so. I have had one in all my sports cars. I just don't have any trouble with this slipping on me "In action". Its the old "T" handle.

I am not trying start anything here. I just know what works for me. I have been driving since the "50's" so take it for what its worth!

Hm. I only have 6k mi on my car. Will the bushings make that much a difference?

As far as the shifter you are talking about, hum, I think I'm leaning toward the skunk2 shifter, but I do know what you are talking about... however, I'm not trying to race my car or perform the worlds fastest shifts either, I just really enjoy how a short shifter feels. Thanks for your input though!
