Short Ram vs. CAI
Short Ram vs. CAI
All,
I have a 2007 TL-S (NBP) with about 40k miles on it. Pretty much stock except for a K&N replacement intake filter.
I have a little extra money to spend on my pride and joy so I have been doing some research. I am looking at putting in an air intake system. I have seen Short Ram and Cold Air Intakes. It looks like the short rams are way easier to install (less time; don't have to rip out the wheel well or the front bumper) and perform pretty similar to the CAI's that are floating around on the market. Does anyone have any thoughts on +/- to going with a Short Ram over a CAI?
I am also thinking of adding a P2R throttle body spacer to add a little bit more. Will it even make a difference?
Again, I am not wanting to mod the heck out of my car, just want to give it a little more kick.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

In theory you will actually lose power over stock if you go short ram. The TL runs warm under the hood, and the oem intake is pretty efficient. And no, you're not going to see any gains with a spacer. You may even lose power with one.
It's not tough to install a CAI, and although the gains are minimal, you should see a few whp/tq.

i personally went with the aem cai and makes a difference. about 6 to 8 hp to the wheel. only problem is when it comes time to clean the filter, it can be a pain to get to. although i havent had any experience with the throttle space, i have heard it more so makes the gas pedal alot more sensitive, which as far as im concerned my foot can do that
