Short ram intake

Since im not a big fan of cai, is it possible to put in a short ram over part of the stock intake box? kind of like this?

And is a short ram worth it?

Thanks

I've been giving a little consideration to adapting my Frankencar/Apexi filter WAI from my former 2002 Altima SE for use on my '04 TL. Not sure if I will actually do this, but it doesn't look to much of a problem. I just need to get a reducer to attach the flexible throttle body coupling to the filter flange.

Short "ram" styled intakes are not a bad idea at all. The previously mentioned Frankencar/Apexi seemed to produce more power than the CAI Injens offered for the Altima SE's. I found that not only did I experience a felt increase in HP, but also an increase in torque across the power band. I attributed this to the straight shot from the filter to the throttle body (the Frankencar unit used a smooth midpipe to help boost the numbers, too).

k&n (and i assume others) have a two piece cold air intake set up, allowing you to use only half of it if you want to have the short ram setup.
