Can we order a J-pipe and race pipe combo instead of the test pipe? Is there really that much of a difference in loudness between the two?

^ I think the race pipe is a little more prone to rasp but not by much. Both products are great so you'll be happy either way.

I started with the test pipe but with my CT exhaust, it was a little too quiet. I thought that replacing it with the race pipe would louden my exhaust up. However I installed the race pipe and the deletes at the same time so everything got loud real quick.

Check out here for some vids of my exhaust... it'll make you wanna buy the deletes NOW!

Oh the deletes would have already been bought and installed but im kinda shying away from them cuz of the "passing emissions" thing. RI checks frigin everything for inspections so I doubt I would be able to get by with those deletes.

I wouldn't have any problems with the j-pipe and race pipe tho right? Cuz they're just replacing existing parts?

I got the j-pipe and race pipe like you're trying to do. I've done everything exhaustwise except precats and it sounds perfect.

The race pipe is just a straight pipe that replaces the 3rd cat, so you're not going to pass emissions with it if the inspection is visual....but swapping it takes all of 10 minutes anyways.

I just went to the website to look at the offer and the title says "J-Pipe replacement and 3rd cat delete." How do we specify when we order if we want the race pipe (non-resonated 3rd cat replacement) or the test pipe (resonated 3rd cat replacement)?

They might have a issue with the race pipe since it removes at a factory cat. The jpipe and race pipe can be easily swapped back to stock if your emissions are that strict. If you want a race pipe with your order just shoot me a PM and I will change it for you.

Two questions.

Is it CARB approved?

What will it do to my MPG if I drive normally? It would be fun to have some extra power but mostly I want to do this to extend my range between fillups.

It's not CARB approved but you should be able to pass smog with it since you're keeping the cats in.

My mpg is a little bit better when I installed it.

If they look under the car (and I think they do) are they gonna say "hmm, pretty sure these don't come with stainless steel J-pipes" and tell me to screw off?

It's completely silly, having a J-pipe isn't going to do anything to emissions, but they are strict here...

I've done smog a couple of times for a few different cars that my family have and I haven't seen a tech check under the car. I do see them pop the hood and check for CARB stickers for an aftermarket intake and if all the tubes to your intake are tight and are intact. But this is in CA so I dunno if they are more strict in your area.

i have all RV6 minus the precat deletes

and the few other TL members whom have driven the car have had nothing but good things to say about response and sound.

a few months ago i pulled up to an old guy getting out of his continental GT and he gave so many compliments about the sound of the TL
