Rv6 Custom Setup

So summers nearing and its finally time for me to order my exhaust parts. Give me your input on this custom setup

1) RV6 J Pipe--on sale now--should i wait for the new ATLP pipe?
2) RV6 true dual tips--anyone have experience with these?
3) mid muffler delete
4) 12' dynamex or magnaflow resonator--is dynamex better?

do you guys think I need magnaflow mufflers as well?
I'm a noob thats slowly learning, any input is appreciated

whatever you do, dont do the MM delete.

Primary cats-->Jpipe-->3rd cat --> stock exhaust.

this is how your proposed set up looks like:
primary cats -->RV6 Jpipe-->RV6 True duals.

so, you dont need the mid muffler delete.
and the true duals come with resonators.
so, unless you want to quiet down your exhaust more, skip the resonators.

this is why im a noob lol
Will it sound aggressive with just the Jpipe and the true duals?
I want an aggressive sound, thats the only reason I said MM deletes.

if you get the true duals, it will delete your stock exhaust. making the MM delete USELESS.

the rv6 true duals is VERY aggressive.
i'm sure you've heard clips, already.

you can either have the stock exhaust or the true duals. but not both.
the MM delete is only for the stock exhaust.

Now I understand
I thought the true duals were only the tips
so for $200 Im getting the tips, the resonator and the other piping?
seems too good to be true

he's just selling the tips now?
I'm sorry.
I'm wrong, I thought you were buying the whole true dual set up.

I still wouldnt do the MM delete, in case you do modify your primary cats.
with the MM delete and PCD's you will get rasp!

but, if all you're planning to do is jpipe and want a throatier sound, then go ahead and do the MM delete.

Ya I was confused about the setup too. Looks like its just the tips.
Do the tips make any difference to the sound?

I cant do Pcd's because of emissions testing. Im not sure about the high flow cat. Don't know if it makes much of a difference for $300. I may be wrong

So with the Jpipe and the tips, im guessing I wont get much of a sound difference. So perhaps the MM delete and the smaller resonator is a good idea for an affordable setup?
I appreciate you answering my noob questions btw

point me to the thread where he is just selling the tips.
Because I DONT THINK HE IS.
the TIPs come with the true duals exhaust system.

Edit*
I am originally right.
HE IS NOT SELLING JUST THE TIPS. the TIPS COME WITH THE TRUE DUAL EXHAUST SYSTEM @ $1400.
the 200 you see is a DEPOSIT.

so, this is what your proposed system will look like:

Primary cats-->rv6 jpipe -->rv6 true duals.
there is no need for mid muffler delete, because the true duals replaces the stock cat back.

Ooooh makes sense. See I went on the site and it said $200, no talk of a deposit. But that makes much more sense.

Well if its $1400 thats too expensive. I want to spend $1000 on my entire exhaust. From what I hear a Jpipe is a must.
So I guess Jpipe, MM deletes, smaller 12' resonator and quad tips from somewhere. I have the Aspec kit, its so hard to find slanted tips though

the base TL has a 900 cell count primary cat.
the Type-S TL has a 600 Cell count primary cat.
the High flow cat has a 200-300 cell count.
the PCD's are a straight pipe and have a ZERO cell count.

which is better? the jpipe or the high flow?
they both provide about the same gain. about 10-15horsies each.

by roar, do you mean rasp!? LOL
you wont get a ROAR with either of these mods.

this is not a v8.

if you want a roar, you'd be better of spending your money on a cat back exhaust.
where the mufflers are different.
thats where the sound is at. the mufflers.

the RV6 true duals give a throaty sound because of the "true dual" design and the hand picked mufflers that richie put on.

Look, if all you want is sound. then do the MM delete.

but, once you start upgrading the primary cats, you will get rasp. HORRIBLE RASP!!!!!
so, if you have no intentions of upgrading the cats, then go ahead and get the MM delete.

after talking to you, your goals is mainly sound.
as you said..."I DONT CARE ABOUT HP."

When you mod, you need to have a certain goal in mind.
and without telling us your goals, you will get misdirected. (i know because i keep misdirecting you)

SO, FIGURE OUT WHAT YOU WANT OUT OF THE EXHAUST.
when you have that figured out, come back and tell us what you want.

yah i think im best off going stage 3 with the Jpipe
maybe get the HFPCs when I have more money saved

Hard decision between the HFPCs or the Jpipe.
if the HFPCs are the equivilant of our headers, from what I'v heard headers are the best exhaust mod.

^yes, but will net you RASP along with your MM Delete.

so if you plan to do the "headers" dont do the MM delete.

RASP IS HORRIBLE SOUNDING. IT GIVES OFF A HIGH PITCH SOUND.
and around and around and around and around we go. because I sound like a broken record. I think I said this in my first post. "if you plan to upgrade to pcds/hfc, dont do MM delete"

put a cutout in right after the jpipe. i have an electric one in and it def gives you roar haha. and alot of fun just for making noise. the cutout piece itself is only $30 and prob another $30 to get it welded in the electric piece is $150. alot better than $1500 for aftermarket exhaust pieces if all you want to do is just make alot of noise.

1. They're similar
2. Like justn said the exhaust is about 1400 .
3. Will only give you a hollow tone . like a tone down g35
4. the longer the resonator is the tone will be weaker...
How much are you willing to spend?
Magnaflow is probably the cheapest way to go if you want something that roars

Thanks man, very clear cut answers
Im looking at spending around $1300 for exhaust parts. I want the best bang for my buck. I have the aspec kit on already so im ready for the quad tips.
Only problem is cheapest slanted ones iv found are on ebay for $200 each.

so thats about $400 for tips, around $300 for magnaflow mufflers (unless there more expensive then that) and the Rv6 J Pipe
that should run around $1500 with installation

What I cant decide is:
1) to get the J pipe or the HFPC's
2) If i get the J pipe, should I still do the smaller resonator and the MM deletes?

sounds really aggressive, I like it. Stage 3 is as far as i can go though.
The E tests here are anal
I used to have a 3000gt straight piped and it was such a pain getting the illegal under the table E tests

I dont think i exactly understood what rasp was till I saw these videos. I see what you mean, it sounds kinda shitty. Ill put all the parts on with the smaller resonator and keep the MM. If its not aggressive enough at that point ill think about it

Dont waste money on the MM its not worth it, since you have plans already just go straight to it. look at this thread it will give you an idea for the magnaflow. its pretty good for the price only if you can find a cheap exhaust shop.

Read the whole thread, very helpful. I want that exact same setup
Iv checked on ebay and magnaflow.com. They dont seem to have the parts for a TL
Any idea where I could order these parts from?

I totally understand what you mean. If I do the MM deletes and get the HFPCs later, then it will sound raspy and shitty

I want most bang for my buck, this wont be my last car so I dont want to dump too much money into it. I am planning o buying an S2000 in a few years. I set a 5k limit last year, already spent 3k

I have 2 K left. I was dumb enough to get lowering springs so now I also have to get coils so thats about 700-800. Leaves me with about $1300 max for exhaust. thats after shipping and installation. So it leaves me with limited options. Its either J pipe or HFPC

The main question I have now is where will I see the gains?
I understand J Pipe roars at around 4700. When will I feel the HFpcs?
Because of the way our engines make power, WE WILL ONLY FEEL POWER AT HIGH REV's!
4700-7k is where the power is at.
Now, you do gain torque at 2k RPM, but most people on here will bitch and say "I CANT FEEL IT"
you're not supposed to.
why?
because the engine isnt made to make power at 2k.
But, I'm telling you I did gain torque at 2k. with dyno's to prove.

it feels more comfortable to drive at 2k rpm, where as before my pcds and jpipe, I hated driving at 2k.

Please if your spending that much on a custom setup just get richies dual exhaust, you will thank us later. I wont get jpipe or pcd/Hfpc, since you dont car about performance.

Final setup will look like this
HFPC's-->RV6 V3--->magnaflow resonator-->magnaflow mufflers-->magnaflow tips

no MM deletes
