Review: Just installed RV6 v3 pcds

i recently installed these bad boys on sunday. called around shops telling me 300-400 bucks to install . and its a 3 -4 hour job. so instead me and my friends decided to put the car on a lift and do it ourselves since hes a mechanic.

so the front ones were really easy to remove and install. the rear ones were a bit harder. hard to start from top to bottom like the diy. then we removed the right side tire and axle and pulled it out from there. i took tons of pics and was goign to make another diy but dropped my phone the same day as the car was in the air and i left a ratchet on top of the car and was too lazy to lower the car .

when i first heard the car crank. i was like holy sh** it got so much louder.(we banged out the 3rd cat also) jpipe coming in on saturday. my exhaust was so so loud. and everyone says my car now sounds like a v8 mustang or something. my friend took it for a test drive and loves it.

then while i was leaving i was heading on the freeway. no traffic no cars. so i slowed down on the freeway to about 20 miles an hour in 2nd gear. then i floored the car and man must i say my car pulls!.

so as i stated my exhaust got a lot louder, the drone is much more louder also. and once rpm hits around 2700-3500 rasp gets crazy loud. i didnt like the rasp before but im getting used to it.

cold start within the cabin i can hear the pcds rattling but after about 2 minutes i dont hear it anymore. and the car smells like sh**

but over all for what you gain from the pcds i would highly recommend it. my car pulls a lot harder seems. i recently was on the freeway. at 60mph and before in 6th i would have a hard time accelerating but now its a breeze and i notice before that around 3k rpm the car would start to pull. but now it pulls HARD!

PROS
sounds like a v8 lols
great gains

CONS
smells bad but bearable smells started to wear down ( this is day 4 ) maybe im getting used to it
rasp ( nothing a resonator cant fix )
loud drone (resonator)

overall im very happy with my purchase of rv6 pcds

will post video if anyone wants!

Something doesn't sound right. Do you still have your mid muffler, oem resonator, and oem mufflers on your exhaust tips?

I don't know if you're over exaggerating because you're stoked about it, but saying it sounds like a "V8" at startup / idle is a over statement.

I have a complete OEM STOCK cat back, however I have a rv6 v3 J-Pipe and PCDs (Just installed the PCDs saturday) and the car sounds nothing like a V8....Sounds like a regular ol' V6 with some exhaust mods. It's not deep and loud at all. Are you sure all the bolts on your cats are tightened down correctly?

Also I get no drone at all. I do however experience RASP at 3000-4000RPM but it's very minor and not "crazy loud" like you mentioned.

I'm starting to think maybe it's because you have a 6SPD and I have a 5AT. That could explain why your car sounds different from mines

^correct.

Dont replace your factory mid mufflers.
Add an after market one.
two resonators will take care of the rasp

^i see what you guys are getting at, but adding 2 resonators just doesn't look right to me. why not just add one massive one and call it a day?

Think of it as "header mod".... the smell, the rattle at start-up, the new sound when stepping on it in neutral...

I think he took off the jpipe and drove the car from pcd back, thus sounds like a V8... only way i could think of if he's getting the Jpipe coming going in soon, might as well take it off.

im sure all bolts are tight. yes my cars 6spd and i dont have resonators on my car. after jpipe its 2.75 inch piping to 2 magnaflow mufflers. and 3rd cat is knocked out. the tone is so deep from 1-roughly 2.7k then rasp comes in.

I agree. Anyone know which resonator will eliminate the rasp if I have v3 pcd and v3 jpipe with stock exhaust? I only want to have one resonator.

I don't think the smell ever goes away with PCD, you just get used to it. I love my j-series cologne!

well smell did wear down a little but i installed the rv6 v3 pcds today. man do i love the power but i do hear maybe the flex pipe rattle or something rattling could be the pcds or the jpipe when i pass 3k rpm.

attempting to tame the beast in 2 weeks on my payday! exhaust too loud for me

This probably explains why he says it sounds like a V8...

^^^ dont worry about the resonator IMO

resonators doo tend to mess with a free flowing exhaust creating some back pressure....

if its rattling, i would suggest getting an additional rubber mount or some like that....

if its rasp and unbearable, then i would suggest a resonator....
