Removing the middle muffler from OEM

Anyone remove the middle muffler on the stock exhaust system? The OEM exhaust system has three mufflers, I'm just wondering what it would sound like if we remove the common muffler?

I did it...though I also did a swap with the rear mufflers. You will get a little more sound from doing that..wont turn into a harsh tone, just more of a stronger exhaust note.

where in ca are you?

You beat it with a lump hammer. Hit hit on the joint on a slight angle and work t around till it falls out.

After the catalytic converter there is a factory resonator, about two feet behind the resonator is the first muffler then the split. there are two additional mufflers at opposite ends of the bumper cover...

I would think you would need to cut it off. Should be welded...right?

Yes...I guess I should have called it the first muffler instead of the third (lol).

That is a resonator.

Might sound like a bumble bee afterwards.

I dont think there is much of a point in removing the middle muffler or resonator separately. Removing one part of your exhaust wont make TOO much of a difference, you might notice some tonal differences but nothing drastic. John is correct in saying that it might have more of a rasp to it, since traditionally resonators are attributed to giving a smoother tone to the exhaust. That said, Acura put a lot of sound suppressive devices in the exhaust...if you are going to remove the first muffler for performance purposes I would suggest at the least you invest in a magnaflow resonator (though the two rear mufflers would still be rather restrictive). If you are doing it for changing the tone I think some experimentation is necessary. Removing just one might not result in too much change, removing both would certainly give you an unpleasant tone. I guess in all my jumbling I would recommend that you take out the first muffler first and go from there.

I actually had a full custom stainless catback system built. It has one 16" Maganflow Resonator and two comptech mufflers w/ 4" tips. It sounds extremely deep...almost V8 like.

it might...you would first have to make sure the welds were tig weld to avoid rust. also, i have a drone now with just a resonator and 2 magnaflow mufferls, and i did have a drone with the resonator, oem mid-muffler and the magnaflows. i think it comes with the exhaust upgrade.
