Rear wing.

Looking to install a rear wing, about the width of the vehicle, 6ft. Does anyone have any insight or past experiance? I dont really want to install one and have it simply rip off haha.

Thanks.

There is the deck spoiler (a base and type-s) and the rear wing.

*Base sits on top of the trunk
*Type-S wraps around it about

With the provided bolts?!

You make holes, you use the provided bolts and mounts, and then you're done pretty much. Measure twice, drill once...

But unless you're tracking the car, please don't do that.

I just see mounting it wont be that secure. Like flimsy on the trunk side of things. And yes its just for the track.

That's how they're normally mounted. Bolted to the lid. It's not so much a problem with conventional trunk lids but sometimes it can put too much strain on CF ones. Then you can use braces that start from the wing but instead of bolting next to the original mounts on the lid you bolt them on the back of the lid.

Check regulations depending if you're in a club or simply tracking the car for your own fun as to what they consider fair play regarding the location, mounting, size and fabrication of the wing.

Both my APR GTC-200 and Voltex Type 2 mounted to the trunk using a base and four 6mm bolts. It seems flimsy, but I never had an issue with either.

oh man, pics of my car are surfacing again I see haha

Here's a link to the part of my thread that starts the project of my wing mount. Definitely overkill for your needs but needless to say my wing is SOLID. don't forget, any flex in the wing, mount, trunk, etc will result in lost efficiency and therefore downforce.

Overkill maybe, I plan on taking the route you went. I have to skim thru your thread. Was going to ask you about a splitter and defuser also.

Definitely overkill for most uses. You have removed your trunk lid braces haven't you? I guess if you did you don't really have a choice.

That's what I recalled. Normal trunk lid shouldn't really have issues with warping if it's bolted to it as opposed to a gutted one.

no it'd be fine. could add a piece of aluminum between the wing mounts on the under side of the trunk lid if you wanted some reassurance.
