Really thinking about Supercharger...
Is around 5400 the going rate for a Comptech s/c installed? Seems kinda high to me, no? I'm in the Bay Area... and yeah... i tried searching all around for people that recently got them (I couldn't find any). It seems that it's about 4500 - 4800. I got a 6mt with 40k miles (that's not a problem is it?). Can anyone point me in the right direction?

looking from your avatar, looks like you have a type-s and if so, last i checked only one guy has attempted a s/c on a type-s so far and i'm pretty sure he's still in the process of working out the details, so i'd check out his thread for the right direction =]
It's Bone STIIIIZOCK! The only thing I have done is cosmetic. Well, I do have Tein coilovers and some Dubs, but that's about it.
How much more are we talking about? I'm guessing the ubiquitous stuff to make the car breathe ... CAI, Exhaust, Throttel body spacer(?), ... but are you talkin about Engine Management or anything like that? If someone has alrready talked about all this can you link me? I'd appreciate it.
Ha... if I had a type-s I'd prolly be satisfied with it for a LITTLE bit longer... It's a 06 6mt...
yeah that's what the guy said... but he said 4800 for the kit, and 600 for labor... my car would be out for two days... does that sound right? Thanks, again everyone...

Well, then my next question is for those guys that got it... is it worth it? Any reliability issues? I read somewhere Comptech built thekit with reliability in mind(?). I don't plan on draggin' the car but 0.7 seconds is a lot is it not in the drag world? I just want some more power on the street. And as for the whine? FRAAACKIN' LOOOOOOOOOOVE IT!! Sounds like a jet takin' off...

4500 for the kit is average, and install is about 600-800 dollars depending where you go. To get the full benefit of the S/C, this is some things you should do:
1. Pre-cat Deletes
2. J-Pipe
3. 3rd Cat delete
4. Cat back exhaust
5. Methanol injection (to help cool the air)
6. After getting the S/C, making a custom air intake for it

As was mentioned I would look into a j-pipe, high flow third cat, and catback exhaust. Those will free up at least another 25 hp/tq.
I'm pretty sure he meant the link for the methanol instructions....since he already has a charger installed.

As far as the supercharger being worth it, hell yes. The best mod ever for the TL. An extra 100 hp and 70-80 LBS TQ and the whine is unbelievable. You will have to add the full exhaust, cats to mufflers to get the full gains but so worth it.
I wouldn't advise anyone in Cali to do pre cat delets, because the car with a blower on it will be noticable both in sound and speed and the CHP will put you in jail over this no to mention the huge fine. Pro cats do a fine job and are still cats if the po po come lookin.
If your planning on keeping your TL, and your getting bored of it, and want to have so more fun, then get the S/C, if u get bored from the S/C, get all the other upgrades for extra 40hp. If you get bored from that, time to get a new turbo car with 500hp lol.
I'm glad you wrote the second sentence b/c I was wondering where you got 100hp and 70-80lbs of tq from just the comptech s/c. Max probably 65hp to the wheels. I'm sure w/ a tune and w/ ALL the essentials (ie. I/E/Race Pipe/J Pipe/Pre Cats) then yes.
Then I guess I'll just have to start with the 'essentials' first. And yeah I plan on keeping the TL. J pipe, exhaust... pre cat deletes doesn't sound to California emissions friendly... is there an alternative?

Again, I would like to stress the importance of methanol injection on a blown TL. With the lack of engine management (real fuel enrichment and pulling timing), methanol will not only add power but also reliability in the form of extra fuel and octane, and cooler charge air.
I'm in love with the stuff. On our turbo cars, instead of being limited to 16psi on 91 octane, we're running 28-29psi on 91 with methanol.....and a gallon lasts a long time......and a gallon of meth is barely more expensive than a gallon of premium fuel.

We installed a water/meth kit on a local 06 TSX AZiner and it helped out significantly in enrichening the A/F mixture. Since he was working off the Hondata reflash and we had install a HBP for him, the methanol is the only thing preventing him from detonating. I would recommend it also but just be aware that it can damage the cats, at least from what I have seen.
