Is it possible for a computer chip reflash / change would allow the AT in manual mode to allow for down shifts into 1st and/or not automatically up shift to 2nd?

That would be a nice mod.

 

i dont know about shifting down to 1st, but no upshifting to 2nd would be cool, at least not until redline....

or maybe have it so that the shifts from gear to gear are faster, it feels like the computer retards it for some reason

It would be nice to be in "full" control while in the "SS" mode. I would have to agree that the feel of the shifts is due to the computer "softening" the stresses on the trans during high torque shifts etc.

IE - 5AT: "Self Preservation"

Probably given time, some chip maker will incorporate the shift issue workaround.... Haven't read/heard of any yet though.

 

Had a 2005 RSX as a loaner yesterday during my A1 service and its SS does not do that automatic shift from 1-2 the way the TL's does. Also didn't notice the infuriating drop back to 1st when you floor it in 2nd, to me that's worse than the automatic upshift.

 

Im sure its possible, jst gotta wait 'till someone comes out with it. Acura doesnt set those limits to take away from our fun....So if you blow the trans on a modded ECU you had better reflash before service.

 

is it possible? probably. but it's high unlikely. none came out for the 2nd gen, where TL's weren't even offered in MT.
