Thanks for all the input. To me it seems it's all a matter of efficiency and decreased work on the engine which in turn results in greater power availability and/or fuel efficiency. All the physics behind this makes sense and is kind of intuitive.....but I never did that well in Physics .

I'm in this car for the long run so I have no problem dropping cash on items that may not benefit performance a ton right away. I'm pretty sure over several years it will be a good investment. I'm probably in this car for 6-8 years. I've typically hung onto my cars for about that long. Heck, if she's running well after 8 years I might pass her on to my son. He'll be 16 by then .

Anyway, I'm leaning toward the RV6. I get my bonus the end of the month so I'll make a decision then. As is, this car is such a huge upgrade from the '99 Accord 4-cyl I was sporting, that wanting more power makes me feel greedy! But hey, if it doesn't come at the expense of MPG I'm all for it (MPG's kind of important since it's a daily driver.....).

And Opel, it's all good. I probably sounded like a prick in my response anyway. Water under the bridge.

Well, I pulled the trigger on it. Order an RV6 V3 today. And no kidding on customer service. Ordered at around 2:00pm MST and got an email two hours later that FedEx had picked it up. I'm already impressed and I haven't even received it yet .

Any tips on installation? I'm planning on doing it myself. I've spent plenty of time under a car, but haven't done a lot of exhaust work. From what I've read it's mostly removal of the bolts/nuts that tends to be the PITA. I've got a torch if needed. I don't have a breaker bar but I'll have to pick one up if worst comes to worst.

if you have the torch I dont think you'll need the breaker bar.

i had the car jacked up on like 2nd perch of the stands and it was hard to get under and work on.

it was pretty straight forward after I got the bolts off.

Very loosely install the nuts/bolts until you get everything in place (front, back, hangers, etc).

Well, I got the jpipe today. No sooner did I get it out of the box that I had the TL up on jack stands. Took about an hour to get the old one off and another to get the new one on. I didn't think the reinstall would take that long but I had a couple of the bolts stripped a bit so I had to give the new nuts a good deal of elbow grease to get em good and tight.

I'm excited to drive to work tomorrow. I'm not expecting a night and day difference but hopefully I'll notice a little something. I'll post some pictures tomorrow, though none of them are anything anyone hasn't seen before Thanks for the tips and advice in this thread BTW. It was helpful.

Oh, didn't notice any difference in the sound. Well, I did at first when I realized that I hadn't quite tightened up the nuts well enough But that was an exhaust leakOnce I tightened things up proper it sounded just like before. I'll take it out on the road tomorrow and see if I hear anything different. Not expecting it, since most say they don't notice a big sound difference.

^good job!

i think that most will notice a sound difference with an aftermarket exhaust. my exhaust tone definitely changed (for the better) after i installed the v3 jpipe. just sounds more free flowing, less drone and less "obnoxious loud" exhaust noise...sounds smoother all around.

love it.

there are no sensors on the 3rd cat.
by replacing the stock jpipe with Richies jpipe, you will not get a CEL. (check engine light)
therefore passing the state inspection.

I just did my inspection yesterday, I passed.

Unfortunatly NC is one of 'em.

Already had one local member get "caught" with a test pipe during visual inspection. Even though he had the original cover plates in place.

Yup...lol. G2 love smart feds like NC. This is why I'll happily be doing XLR8's J-pipe vs. worry about not being let on the road to drive the car I purchased over a difference of 3-5hp Woo-Hoo!!!.

I didnt know what to expect with a stiffer bar. As its my first time modding a car, let alone messing with suspension. It's not as big as a difference as the automatics 17mm to 24mm.

On the soft setting, I could feel my car being braced a little more. I could not get the rear end to swing out like most of the reviews. But it does fill a little more planted during cornering.
I'm suspecting my drop and changing it to the stiffer setting will have more of an impact.

Also, my tires are worn.

This kid removed his 3rd cat ( which is what the J-pipe will do) and his mid muffler, so I predict my sound to be close to this, if not identical.

I was interested in the pre-cat deletes, however I need to do more research as there is A LOT of back and fourth about losing torque and that is the last thing I want.... so I guess Ill have to do more reading ....
Wow this is the perfect sound i want. I have a base auto 08 TL, I am leaning toward Rv6 Jpipe and i have already removed the mid muffler. Everything else is stock. This one on this youtube is a TLS am i correct? So i were to add jpipe and no mid muffler, i wouldnt think there would be any loss of power. Am i correct?

You have a stiffer front sway bar which is why you didn't notice the tail happiness. Put it in firm and take it to the limit and you'll see.

Dont think, I'll drop it until I get the koni's.
I did purchase the H&R springs tho, 1.3 F and 1.4 R.

Switching lanes has been improved with the sway bar at soft setting.
I'm pretty content with the setup, MAYBE just maybe I'll switch it to the stiffer setting. Heck, I wont know if I'll like it unless I try.

but for sure, wont drop until i get my hands on those koni's.
Buying the NT05's next...
