Has anyone had experience with the Pulstar Pulse Plug? Its suppose to be an entirely new design for a high performance spark plug (or as it is called a pulse plug) instead of the normal 50 watts of spark a regular spark plug puts out this spark plug CAN put out like 1 million watts in 3 billionths of a sec. Their like $25 per plug but guaranteed to pay for itself in horsepower and fuel saving in 12 months. So for the tune up with the TL its about $150 for six.

I have checked the website before, read the ful pag ad in Poular Mechanics etc-
my concern is the TL does not use the normal low voltage ignition of regular cars.
Thats why we have coil right on each spark plug!
Call the company and ask if they have field tested with Acura engines- specifically the TL
Or be the test pilot for the rest of us.
If it gets me way better gas mileage- I want it~
Oil closed at over 100 dollars a barrel, hang on to your pennies for gas money

just emailed them to see if any real world testing on TL was done, or if they simply looked at plug replacement charts and said this number = our number.xy56....

well from what it says that it doesn't create enough heat to cause damage. so I would imagine that the temperature would be pretty even for the plugs. I am looking into getting them for my TL and be the guinea pig to pave way for others. It sounds like it would be the shyt!!!! I'm getting ready to hit the 100,000 mile marker and the major tune up which my car needs! wish me luck!

I run the stock temp NGK Iridiums
The ads for these say if you modified the engine and have higher compression via nitrous- then a colder plug is in order- call them for proper heat range.
As stated before- we start with more voltage than a regular car- email sent to them regarding use in TL- awaiting reply

Isn't the TL already ULEV rated (or something to that effect)? If so, isn't at least part of that rating due to better fuel economy than most all others out there? If so, that may be due to the way the TL is setup. In other words, our TLs may ALREADY burn fuel more efficiently than other "non-ULEV" cars, right? Not certain if these plugs would be able to "burn more fuel" than the TL already does.

ULEV stands for Ultra Low Emission Vehicle, not to be confused with the newer cars which have Super-ULEV engines.
It has nothing to do with mileage- if we didnt carry all the extra smog pieces- it would run way better IMO.
With all the cats and dual O2 sensors, hi energy coils sitting atop each spark plug, the TL reads almost zero on emissions test.
IF- the pulestar is compat with the coils and burn even better...well the testers will let us all know.
Until then- its just wild rumors

To those guys: Please run a gas mileage/ fuel economy check this week, and then for the next several fillups after plug change to see if its an increase, an instant thing, or a month later- they are working really good now! thanks

I should be getting them tomorrow....however in order to run a good check i think i would need to run a full tank of GAS...... but i won't have any results at least until this weekend..

I just received the plugs today. I will do my best to install them ASAP (once tank is empty).
I am getting an average of 26 mpg @ 41 mph of mostly highway commuting with mostly light with some moderate spots of traffic (commute is very consistent). My commute consists of 70 miles total per day 20 0f which are city stop and go.
I will do some resets while driving on the highway @ 65mph with old plugs for 5miles or so and do the same with the new plugs at the same highway location unless some has any other ideas...

or unplug the clock backup fuse- thats the ECU power
If you do the battery cable method- take the time to clean the post and connector,
that always helps!

I just got my plugs yesterday gonna install them this weekend and don't worry about the coupon code that expires by the 1st of march, they sent me another coupon code that doesn't expire until 4/1/08. I think its 0031.....i'll double check it though......

1. No, Engine lights
2. Slightly smoother at idle
3. Slight short run MPG gain
4. I did not realize power gain
5. True test will be burning entire tank of fuel (more to follow)
6. Conclusion: No regrets at this point (more to follow)

How many miles did you have on the original plugs?
The increases you are seeing could be the result of clean plugs. In other words, you could have easily gotten the same gains with brand new stock plugs.....

Accordingto his MID- the mpg went up 1 mpg, but that was not on actual full tank run, just short test, and I never believe indicators- only fuel used for miles driven

Ok so i got my plugs installed this weekend and so far so good. It does idle smoother. I definately feel a punch in my throttle response but that could also be the fact that my car really needed a tune up.....unfortunately because my stock intake piping has a rip in it i won't be able to get a mileage reading for yall until i get it fixed. Like no air is running through my filter i'm sure......before i changed the plugs my mileage was 15city/15highway. Hella sucks. waisted damn hear half a tank of gas just driving from sacramento to the bay area (hayward for those who don't know) which is like 115 miles away!

The only way to coax more voltage out of a coil is to make it work harder. Under normal operating conditions, a coil will put out only what is needed to fire the spark plug. This might be 7 or 8 kv at idle. During a snap acceleration, this might jump to 10kv or so. [I've forgotten what acceptable values are.] Typically, a coil can produce 40 to 50 kv if not connected to a spark plug or plug tester.
Over the years, I,ve seen various methods used to get coils to produce higher voltage. These range from "spark intensifiers" I saw at the county fair, to Champion inventing plugs with an auxillary gap inside the plug. What they all have in common is that they increase the amount of resistance [impedance] in the ignition secondary.
That said, the main reason for these things are of any use, is to fire a fouled plug. Typically you'd use them in a vehicle that burns oil or runs too rich.
I'd be real hesitant to use plugs that raise the required secondary voltage, especially on a vehicle with coil on plug ignition with a history of coil failures.

The TL coils can be abusively handled during a spark plug change, thats the most common reason I have read about for failure- drop one and kiss it goodbye
New spark plugs anytime after 60k miles is going to help a TL run better.
The plug maker says it wont harm any type of ignition system- and the action is taking place storing power inside the plug. It didnt seem to be asking for more power from the coil itself.
Road test by members will tell us for sure. We all know what the average fuel use is so if someone starts getting 28 in town and 35 on the freeway...that would be a big jump

There's an article about this spark plug in this month's Modified magazine. They tested it on a 350z and their best dyno run produced ~ 9 HP increase! I didn't remember them saying anything about fuel economy though.
They were obviously surprised with the results and they said they planned to test this on other vehicles to determine if it was a fluke or not. They're hoping they just "found" the new bang for the buck mod!

I dont think 350Z owners care about fuel economy-
