Pulley for comptech supercharger

I have been in contact with a undisclosed company (at this point at least, we dont need to bombard them with 1000 emails so will will call them company X for this thread) for producing a pulley for our comptech supercharger. I have recieved a cad drawing diagram to measure the stock one off of our s/c. I have all of the measuring tools to do this but i also have the option of sending one overnight to company X and having them measure it and ship it back same day overnight to me. I have discussed this with paul and brett and it looks like brett may be able to give his car up for a couple of days so i can go this route. i would rather send it to company X so that if there is a problem (ie. belt wear, belt throw) then it will be on their shoulders. NOW before anyone has a comment on higher boost please read the following. I have spoke with company X on making a prototype pulley to start with by adding 1 pound of boost over the current 4 lbs. After the pulley is made me, paul and brett will be using this pulley and dyno testing to see if the a/f ratio can be rasied to a more favorable 12 - 12.5 to 1 over our current 10.8- 11 to 1 AND see if there is any HP or TQ to be found. We will also be checking for drivability issues such as higher IAT's or pinging issues due to higher compressed air temp and raise combustion pressure due to increased boost. IF all go accordingly we will look into a 2 lb pulley (or 6 total) and also do the same as the first pulley. Without having any tuning tools to allow for changes we are trying to see if we can make due with what is avalible for us now which is just the comptech's supplied acm. BEFORE anyone mentions emanage ultimate, or any other piggyback, this is not what is being discussed in this thread. IF anyone is interested in the emanage or any other piggyback please try it and then if it works please add to this thread. If anyone is interested in having it installed to see if it works pm me and i will work with you even if its just to send you the wiring diagram for the stock ecu. I havent attempted to do any kind of piggyback to our ecu and do not feel that they will work as these ecu's are more complexe then previous years due to the drive by wire controller. The stock ecu does not recieve input as a standard throttle position as a normal ecu would. SO anyone interested please let me know to get a rough idea on how many pulleys we will be looking at AND IF all goes as planned then we will start a group buy or something as this pulley IS NOT going to be a stocking number but rather a custom order. Do not expect to see a pulley or results for at least three weeks as this project is just touch the water.

You'll shoot your eye out!

Keep the air charge temps in check, the Eaton blower is 65% adiabatic at 4-5 psi. As you get to 8-psi you'll see the ACT's climbing and the power leveling.

Good luck,

A-Train

Ive already taken into acount for ACT and that is why i am limiting this to 6 psi. All of the kits that i have done no one is making more than 4 so ct's claim for 4-5 is out the window. As said my inentions are to SEE if we could make some more power with a better a/f ratio and still be worth while. If ACT jump to high then the project is scrapped. How overly rich these cars are s/ced and not being able to tune them this is an attempt to see if there is anything past where we stand right now. Here is the specs for the M62 and you can see that we should be looking at adding at least 25- 30 degrees more. http://www.automotive.eaton.com/prod...argers/M62.asp

Just to chime in, the Altima guys who are also drive-by-wire had some success w/ a unit called the SMT6 Piggyback, so maybe that might be worth checking out. Otherwise, they all seemed to have jumped on the emanage ultimate, and seems to be working out for them as well.

Here's the link to the SMT7 unit:

encrypted03, thanks for the suggestion but for now we are not looking to add another piggyback to the system. We are trying to see if more power can be made by "leaning out" our overly rich a/f's.

Ryan,
You know what you're doing. If everything works out great, I'm definitely getting this and having you install it. There is no question about it. Keep us posted.....

Its not so much about having more boost just trying to make more power with what is avalible. But yeah it does sound better doesnt it HAHAHA.

i think you can get up to 7lb and that's it. the 2nd gen TL/CL guys can go that high with one exception. the guys in cali can't run it without a tune because they only get 91 octane. keep this is mind, but like i said, i feel 7 lb is good. good luck.

A pulley like that should cost any more than 250 then I dont know but you might need a new belt. Ryan if you can confirm that I am in the right ball park!

Ryan, I am not trying to hijack your thread, but I have gotten a few calls about this. If you want to have it edited out let me know; you can repost the same info underneath your own name. The Unorthodox Racing pulley I am selling is not the pulley Ryan is talking about. I am selling a stock size crank pulley. He is talking about the pulley on the supercharger shaft; I am talking about the crank pulley on the engine.

Cleancl, 7 psi is going to be too high for this application. The eaton m62 produces too much heat after 6 psi and we would run into problems with early detionation. The 2nd have the ability to somewhat tune with there adjustable rising rate fuel pressure regulator. This pulley is gong to be for what we have to work with now. A good point that excellerate has pointed out to me is to let everyone know that this WILL void your warrenty with comptech as does there high boost pulleys with ALL of there kits. As of now i am not sure how this is going to be avalible. After testing is done i may just give the information of the company for everyone to buy direct. Like i stated we are trying to determine if this is going to be feasible, cost effective, and worthwhile. If gains are small or a/f ratios are unsafe then we will be scrapping this project. if somebody wishes at that point to continue with trying to tune for it i will give the companies name and info for them to further progress with it.

The same person that had the Pro-cats made for us, is calling us Power Junkies.
I think Mark sees a little of him in us and it is bringing back memories.

When i installed nitrotigers i removed the pulley to see if it was pressed on or keyed and it was keyed. I emailed company x and to see when i could overnight my pulley to them and they could overnight it back to me but i havent recieved an email back from them since last monday. Nitrotiger hittin up the dyno soon to check his a/f and egts so we'll see how that goes and hopefully hear from the company for the pulley. Will keep you guys updated.

Well i emailed the company last monday and here it is next tuesday and no word from them. I resent the email to them but still no reply. I dont know how comfortable i would feel now sending them the pulley off of my car an hoping it returns in a timely fashion. I will keep everyone posted if i hear word from them. The name of the company is PulleyBoys http://www.pulleyboys.com/ and are located in Lakewood WA so if anyone is near them and wants to have them measure up your pulley to help expidite this process feel free to try and contact them and maybe stop by to have them measure it. The pulley is keyed so it comes off quite easily by unbolting the center nut in the pulley and holding the outter nut thats part of the pulley. This can be done on the car by loosening then nut then taking the tension off of the belt and removing the nut then the pulley. Sorry to keep everyone in suspense im doing my part but..... cant make them email me back.

Would you mind sending me the CAD drawing of the pulley? I can see if I could get it made locally and get some testing done!

The drawing wasnt up to snuff and i felt i would be better off sending them my pulley so that they could measure it presisely. The pulley takes a matter of seconds to take off of the blower so that would be your best bet. Pulley boys said he would be able to make pulleys for 1 psi incriments but couldnt tell me what size it would be. Hit them up if you would like, i got no response back after numerous emails.
