Hey guys! My name is Brad and recently purchased an 05 Base with 6spd MT, anthracite metallic- so sexy! I couldn't be happier! It's a huge upgrade from the 99 Civic EX I've had for 7 years!

I've been reading through these forums a lot lately and you guys seem like a good group of gearheads so I decided to join the community.

I'll make this quick- I've done a ton of research the past few days into a stage 3 exhaust mod, and will be ordering the dynomax resonator soon as I'm looking for a little louder exhaust tone; she's pretty quiet stock. The videos some of you have posted with this mod sound great to me. I will be eventually buying a catback or custom fabbing an exhaust in the next year, but I'm tight for cash at this time and figured this is a decent/fairly cheap option for what I want at the moment. Just FYI.

One question I had- I'm looking into the Skunk2 shift knob because it's sleeker and heavier than the stock one. I searched the threads and the link provided was from a few years ago and didn't work anymore. Is this the knob I should purchase for the 6spd? I couldn't find any other links, so if you guys have one that's better please let me know. Just don't want to get one with the wrong thread size.

Thanks guys. Also, this just started today, but I'm getting some chugging in 2nd and 3rd gear around 3k rpms, it's almost as if I didn't shift well and it's "lurching". It was from cold start, only about a 15 min drive home from campus. Could that be the reason? I know it's going to need a clutch soon, could that possibly be the issue instead? It was fine in the other gears from what I noticed, further driving tomorrow will tell. I'm just worried if its something other than that.

My VSA light came on as well, along with the warning indicator on the bottom left of the gauges for it as well. Any thoughts? I've got 107K on the odometer.

I searched and found this link, it seems many 6MT owners have had this problem? I'll keep searching but please let me know if you guys have any ideas. A dealership does not seem to be the solution. Thanks for any and all info.

Mines Auto, I bought it with 79K, change air filter to K&N, All interior lights to l.e.d., change lic plate to l.e.d, bought S-Type tail lights, will install this wk end and deleted my mid Muffler. Not sure about shifting, keep us updated...

Check out the Moddiction Anvil II knob. It's a lot cleaner than the Skunk, and looks more at home in the TL. Weighs about 2x what the stock knob weighs and makes the car more fun to drive. You need a 10mm X 1.5 pitch.

Change the training fluid with this stuff!
It will make all the problems disappear!

Pinina- you think so? I was going to head to the stealership to see if they have any opinions or can let me know what's going on. I know the CEL is being engaged due to no vtec engagement, and it's happening more often. I have been running it below 3k before the vtec could engage (though the governor kicks in), its just annoying because I can't step on it when need be. I know the potential parts that would need to be replaced, I'm just hoping its not that as I'm due for the 105k maintenance. But from much searching I'm thinking its probably the vtec oil pressure switch or the solenoid needs some cleaning. Anyway, I will take that into consideration. Thanks.

I'm not sure about the CEL but I had the same 2nd to 3rd gear problem when I bought the car new in 05.
I changed the trans fluid to the GM stuff and have not had any problems since.
There is a big thread on this and all 6mt users have changed it out with no problems.
