so who's gonna be the first to DIY how to install these puppies? I'm getting my exhaust welded up tomorrow, and these should be here in time to install over the weekend.
Also, Richie is saying that wrapping them = bad and could crack them, opinions?

I'd seriously reconsider wrapping anything on a daily driven car... There's really no need at all.

Really?.. I wrapped my atlp j-pipe using black exhaust wrap by DEI, but it came with a silicone spray. That's the main reason why I chose them, because of their silicone spray. It disperses water very well imo...

So here's the deal...
Wrapping was introduced for HEADERS not "collectors" as you see them. Headers have each exhaust port individually leaving the head, down to the collector. In this situation there is a LOT of pipe surface area that can result in heat transfer under the hood... and frankly, many of the old american engine's accessory components were right next to these headers, which placed them at risk of overheating in high output situations
Here's an interesting statement right off the Pegasus wrap page: "All header wraps contribute to shorter header life due to the intense heat within the wrap"
The surface area of the collector pipes that richie makes is so small that wrapping them would result in little to no gain. Wrapping the pipes all the way to the Jpipe might be helpful if you full throttle your TL as a race car... but ONLY if you drive like that.
The risk you take in doing that though, is the following (just google header wrap corrosion):

Eevn with stainless steel... and especially if you livve anywhere that has a winter.
The problem is that these wraps hold the moisture against the pipe. Water's amazing, it will work it's way into every nook and cranny. Compound that with driving tthe winter slush, and highly corrosive anti freezing agent they put on the road.
This is why wraps are for racecars that never drive in these conditions... The performance trade off isn' there.
As for the pro-cats, they were not made out of stainless (only cat canister was), they were wrapped, and I drove with mine for 6 months or so and they looked like shit when I removed them. No idea why they bothered to wrap them anyway. Stockers aren't wrapped.
Do what ya want guys... This the same forum that honestly believes that gold space foil (sorry Al), plastic manifold spacers, and ground wires are power gainers...
but Blacura's right, keep the bling.
BTW, check with Mike (atlp) and Ritchie if they'll honor a warranty in 2 years if these parts have corroded badly after being wrapped... The answer will be a resounding NO.
Is it worth

well we don't really have a winter here in Tampa (gets down to a frigid 50ish in Jan/Feb) but we do have water. plenty of that. this seriously wouldn't decrease underhood temps? I drive my TL about 6000 miles a year max, mostly just 10 miles a day to/from work and the gym. if there's nothing to be gained from this, then F it, but if it would keep the bay cooler then I'd consider it.

If you break the wrap in properly and then you spray it with a coating you'll be fine. Yes more heat inside of it will cause more deterioration of the metal, but how long do you plan on having the car? it will significantly lower underhood temps and prolong the life of all the components. It's just like when people use a turbo blanket, including me, Yeah it decreases the life of the turbo, but saves everything else, so what if I only get 50,000 miles of the snail instead of 60,000....I'll be in the market for a new one or have sold the car by then...at least nothing else will have been damaged.

def gonna be raspy... since you don't have a resonator with the atlp catback... might need to consider customizing a small resonator in the 3rd cat location
