I have a funky whooshy almost metallic sound, I'm hoping it's just from that nut, I put a nut on there temporarily but it's not a stock nut. what should I torque those nuts down to? I tightened everything under the car as best I could with impact on low setting (precats to j-pipe, j-pipe to exhaust) and I tightened the cats to the manifold as best I could but that was by hand with a socket wrench. also whatever the vacuum tube is where you suck in the seafoam, that thing is making more noise now than it used to (unless I just wasn't paying attention to it in the past)

Oh and never in a million years would you pass emissions of any kind in this thing, it smells like gas pretty good.

smells stinky. like gas.

The bracket is on but with only one bolt, hope that'll hold until I can figure a way to fix it...

I looked inside the test pipes and deletes and there are resonator plates inside that may be making a tinny noise till they get some carbon built up on them. I went to the dyno today and put up some decent numbers for an auto on and off the bottle. The exhaust smell is more aggressive but what did you expect with no cats? I still smell like exhaust 2 hours after getting home from the dyno lol.

AL is from NYC... money $$$ talks... and RacingHart is a Tech (I think)... I bet he has a hookup too...

Mainly... as long as your car doesn't have a check engine light ACTIVE, you should pass with no problems...

Tailpipe emissions will be high for sure. For me, this car will be long gone before I am due for inspection.

I'd think it'll only take an hour to swap in the 3rd cat so you guys could pass inspection...

Also, i believe with brand new cars, your first year due for an inspection is only a mild inspection? or something like that? They only charge $10 instead of the $37 because they dont do a full inspection....

i could be wrong..

Problem is, it will pass with the precats in place and no third cat. It won't pass with only a third cat in place. It would be awesome if all you had to do is bolt the third cat on for emissions.

New cars, at least in CA have 6 years I believe until they have to go in for a smog check. Sucks that they charge a "smog abatement" fee in lieu of the money the state would get for a smog check.

If your state does obd2 you will pass because there is no check engine light, and as far as the computer knows the precats are functional

Interesting... this thread has two main points being discussed: A) No sniffer testing to pass state inspection, just a check for ECU codes, and B) the strong exhaust smell. Do you see where I am heading ? I wonder what the inspection guy is going to think when he "passed" the car because no codes are present, and his eyes are tearing-up from the fumes.

The fumes are not that bad at all, only after driving the car for a little bit, especially driving it hard, and then stopping for a little bit while the car is on.

i plan on keeping my 3rd cat to keep the smell a little low so when i do have to go get emissions it wont b that obvious but i dont realy mind the fumes or anything.

one question tho, wht wud b the difference between these procats and a regular straight pipe in the place of the 2 precats themselves?

After getting all outstanding order's filled I only have 2 sets of deletes, 4 J-pipes last and 15 test pipes left. I honestly though this order was going to last me 2 month. So who here would be interested in a group buy. If there is enough interest I will sign up to be a vendor. I cant afford to keep too much inventory, so I will give a nice discount to those that put down a deposit.

Question: I have more of a vibration at idle sometimes now after installing the precats, does anyone else get that or am I special? It couldn't be the UR pulley could it? I always get scared of that thing not being balanced, etc.

I have numerous dyno pulls on and off the bottle along with about 300 miles of driving and I dont have a check engine light so I doubt your issue is caused directly by the removal of the cats. You need your code pulled.

Blower has to come off for the front pipe. You can try to wiggle it in but you may have to buy a new radiator if things are forced. Don't ask how I know this.

^ lol. i bet he tried it

yeah, the blower does have to come off from what i've read, but somebody (i think RYAN869xxx) was was able to get the battery out w/o removing the blower. so im sure if you remove the bumper, support and radiator you can do it, but it might be easier to just remove the blower
