Pre Cat Deletes....? richie rv6 get in here

Ok so I’ve been interested in getting precat deletes but i have a few concerns and questions about them.

I noticed that people with the v1 precats are having leak problems due to the precats deletes failing. What’s the reason behind it? what is different about the v2 that addresses this issue?

What’s the difference between stock vs precats deletes in terms of noise? Is it noticeably louder under normal driving conditions?.. Or is it louder only when you get on the throttle?

Are there any plans to do high flow precats?

Leak issues with V1 is mainly due to vibration + corrosion + welds and mostly due to the thickness of metal used to make the deletes. V2 uses thicker metal which allow for heavier welds in turn (supposedly) solving the issues that V1 owners are having. I think the pipes are 2 mm compared to 1.1 mm.

Deletes = no restriction, hence it will increase exhaust noise even if you are running stock exhaust and yes it is noticeable, especially if you have an aftermarket exhaust paired with the deletes and or a J-pipe.

E-shift use to offer high flow pre-cats, they werent reliable as far as I know.
Richie hasnt mentioned planes for hi-flow cats, at least not yet.

The only real issue was with the rear pre-cat delete on the v1's. for some reason, they taking a heavier load than the front delete. despite, you're safe to run a v1 in the front, and a v2 in the back. i haven't had any problems.

richie, when are you making high flow cats? +2

Thanks for the reply JnC.

Will the V2 sound different then the v1 with the extra thickness?

i think i might wait a little bit and see how the v2's hold up before i get them.

Ideally i would like to get high flow precats tho.

^^ Although pre-cats give you as much as 15hp, you will loose low end torque. An ideal set up that most people are running to save the low end torque and gain some high end horses is by running type S pre-cats as they have low cell count compared to the base model TL and are less restrictive paired with a J-pipe and 3rd cat delete or high flow third cat. Since you have a Type S from the get go I'd suggest keeping stock pre-cats, adding a J-pipe and a 3rd cat delete for optimum performance.

High end hp also matter if you go WOT a lot, if you dont then stick with what gives you the best low end torque numbers as thats what you need to get going.

The main cause of the V1 precat delete failures was due to the stretching of the thin tubing around the head flange during the manufacturing process. On the V2 precat deletes the tubing is almost twice as thick and much more care was taken not to over stretch the pipe around the head flange.

Precat deletes will make your car louder pretty much under all conditions.

I could have a set made up if you want to be the tester. I figure, $340 for the precat deletes, $200 for the cats and $80 for the welding.

I honestly don't see why they would sound different since they are the same design. There are ~35 sets of the V2 deletes out there and not a failure yet

Richie, I'll be your "tester!"

Shoooooot, you know me...I'll run those things into the ground! They'll be fail-proof after we're done!

Thanks JnC. i had no idea that the type S had different precats. i guess i'll save my $ and stay stock.
