if you keep any of the stock parts in line, you're restricting that portion to 2.25" via a 2.5" aftermarket pipe. Not efficient. It keep the tone down but it won't be breathing as good as it could be.

3.Also, how much do test pipes generally run for?
4. Best brands for HFC's or Test pipes?

Thanks!!
1. The HFC tones down the sound alittle, but IMO not much.
2. The test pipe will give you more flow than any cat whether HFC or stock. It depends on if you want to go catless or not. You could also find a use Eshift 3rd Procats cheaper than ATLP or RV6. But you will have to port the outlet from 2.25" to 2.5" to fit an aftermarket exhaust.
3. You can find a use one for around $60 or less.
4. As mention in #2, ATLP, RV6, or Eshift with minor mod. RV6 for test pipe.

I had Procats, RV6 test/j-pipe, and stock catback. I had lots of low and mid range power, but topend sucked. If you can live with that, go for it. You will still have better performance that stock regardless.

Alright that sounds good, by the way, would it be possible to do one piece at a time? or would i need to buy the j pipe, test pipe, and cat back at the same time?

Either way is up to you. IMO it's more fun one piece at a time.

haha yeah thats a good point, where do you think is a good starting point? The j-pipe? I'm going to be doing the work myself so I want to start on the easy things first then move up.

I would recommend starting with the mid-muffler delete because having that mid-muffler will uhmmm... "muffle" the sound of your exhaust mods. This is the only exhaust mod that you can't DIY because a muffler shop will need to weld in a section of pipe. All other exhaust mods you can easily do yourself with basic hand tools.

Next I would recommend the j-pipe because the j-pipe offers the biggest gains.

Next would be the 3rd cat delete.

if i were planning on getting a aftermarket catback, wouldn't welding a mid muffler delete be a waste of time and money? or am i mistaken where the mid muffler is? :/

athomas214,

You got it right. If you plan to do the catback, then I would recommend the following -

If you are more interested in the sound, do the catback first.

If you are more interested in performance, do the j-pipe first.

well no i dont plan on keeping my third cat, thats what the race pipe is for. I assume the mid-muffler your talking about is the resonator on the catback? which in my case would be left on because I wanted to keep my cat-back stock.

Basically im trying to get the most bang for my buck with my exhaust. Since aftermarket cat-back is so expensive i figured i would just go with precat deletes, j-pipe, and racepipe. but your telling me that wont be effective because of the stock cat-back. correct?

Our vendors, Heeltoe and ATLP, are trusted and the only ones that have the ATLP in stock (they make them ).

i have a question that im stuck with after reading the previous posts, i'm thinking about doing the exact same thing come tax returns . I have the mid muffler delete and know that the pipe is 2.25" will buying the test pipe and j-pipe fit the stock exhaust with the supplies that it comes with? In other words does the connection between the test pipe and catback have same dimensions when screwing in.

Acura tl type s 2007

Look into RV6 perfomance parts, merc racing for superchargers and turbos and get a Hondata Flashpro before doing these upgrades and all your parts will get the full horsepower they can push. I have a guy that is a amazing tuner who helps me out on all this.

Hondata Flashpro

If you have a guy that is great at tining cars. Go with XLR8 exhaust quad tips RV6 perfomance j-pipe, PCD- pre cat delete if the pre cat delete is legal in your state, and definitely get the Hondata Flashpro to get all the HP out of those products and cold air intake. You will be close to 350hp by then.
