Plate style oil cooler

I'm just about to hook up my oil cooler but it only fits with the lines facing down, basicly upside down from normal. My question is will this work, I'm worried the oil will not fill up the cooler and just go in one side and out the other.

There is constant oil pressure going through so you shouldnt worry unless you have a clog. You can mount them anyway you want. Its still something oil needs to pass through.

I put it together started it up and it seems to be working. The whole cooler got warm right away and no leaks, so that's a plus.
I'm very excited I have been working on this for a few weeks looking for the best spot. I cut the lower grill opening so that the grill still fits back on sleeper style.

Nice! No issues, I have one of mine mounted that way. It's always a good idea to try to get the oil cooler as low as possible but as long as everything is working well with a filter with a good ADBV you'll be fine. I think this is an excellent idea for boost.

I would cut and fit, cut and fit the bumper. I finally fit it in and got the lines run. My original idea was to do a remote oil filter, but the lack of space and the need to put the meth injection pump down there made me go with the sandwich adapter. The only issue is will the filter hit the lower A arm. I'm doing test runs tomorrow to make sure all is well.

I didn't want any heat transfer to the intercooler so I put it in the lower bumper grill. Fits nice I just need to refine my mounting brackets a little.

be careful with the sandwich adapter being too thick. mine hit the lower A arm and busted myoil filter. u wont know until youve leaked enough oil to cause damage. make sure your motor mounts are in pristine condition and buy a shorty filter

i'm sure with the amount of moving air there would be almost no transfer

I thought the same thing many years ago. But with a guage to measure every temp on the car there is no measurable difference.

I know it's too late now but there's always the option of one of the self contained oil/trans cooler fans. They have a built in thermostat, bolt to the cooler, so all you do is run the power wires.

What xiomaro said. Aluminum also dissipates heat pretty decently. my buddy ran a pretty crazy gs and he runs two trans coolers linked together the size of his radiator.

Update:

I have been running the oil cooler for a week now and all fittings are tight and dry. The lower grill fits back in perfectly and everything looks stock. I will take some pics of the install and cooler location in a day or two.

Here comes the interesting part, I have the full UCM done and have been monitoring under hood temps upon parking noting the outside temp and amount of time driven. Most days the turbo is about 530 degrees exhaust side,115 intake side, top tube going into the intake 120, intake 125 and top of intake where it says VTEC 150.
Today I took readings and it 74 degrees out. Exhaust side of turbo 534 normal temp, intake side 115 normal also, but Intake tube is 94, intake is 96 and top of intake is 100. I thought my temp gun was broken or low on batteries until I felt the intake and top, and both were warm to the touch.
This cooler is working very well so far.

I did a sandwich adapter off the oil filter, thought it might hit the suspension but hasn't yet. I will get some pics up once I find my camera.
