we'll see what happens tomorrow. i guess my warranty place was too busy and i couldn't get ahold of them so i'll try again tomorrow. If i can get a new motor out of this with lower miles, thats what ima get. im happy with the TL motor stock and plus i'll just have that extra motor that i can play with. FREE is 99% better than paying for it.

Whose your warranty company? If it's not American Honda you might be screwed.. check the fine print on labor / hr.. they might cap it at ~$50 / hr plus they might push for used parts. Basically they'll want to fix it the cheapest way possible or find a reason to blame you. Make sure they pay upfront as well.. not that we'll reimburse you bs.

whats up boys... Alex, im a little late on this but...theres no need for a new motor..
just rebuild the heads..the necessary things first, valves, guides, seals...if u wanna spend more, since the heads are off the motor, then do the whole valve train. Otherwise, just change valves, guides and seals and youll be good to go!!!
i thought i remember someone asking why the exhaust valves...and pretty much the motor was Over REVED..causing valve float, exhaust valves always bent on such low CR motors (given that you dont have a 7.0:1 CR), since they're open as the pistons travels upwards, but the floating kept them from slamming shut on time!
man, o man...what did I tell you Alex! lmaooo
either way, goodluck

Bringing this thread back, hopefully for some much needed help. You guys seem very knowledgable about much of the issues in this thread. I read the whole thing and seems a lot of it pertains to the trouble i'm having with my 06 TL. Hopefully you guys can shed some light on the possible problem and a solution.
history:
06 Tl MT
108K
60k Richie V6 pre cat delete pipe, stock other than the pipe.
95K had timing belt replaced
105k
driving my 06 TL 6mt on the highway at 65 mph, loud bang, then loud exhaust leak, thought I split the exhaust, long story short, plug, coil and threads blew out of the head, 180.00 dollars for a tow and 225.0 for the repair ( new coil, heli-coil, plug ) I was on my way.
108k fill tank with gas on a friday, wile under hard acceleration the engine light flashes 2 or 3 times, the car shudders and loses power for a second or 2 and picks up again, I think I may have gotten bad gas, put in some lucas oil fuel conditioner, car runs fine for another week. Following friday fill with gas, under acceleration engine light blinks 2-3 times, slight shudder, then clears up. following week loud bang, loud exhaust, blown out plug in the same cylinder. Plug, coil, threads gone again. Drove the car to the repair place this time and when I got it there, this time there was oil spalshed out of the plug hole. I feared the worst that the piston had a hole in it and the motor was blown. Mechanic just called and said it's not blown but need a new head. Labor, 1,200, parts 1,500, 2,700 total.
seems I can get a reman head for under 400.00, pay 1,200 hundered labor and car should be fine. I really love this car and want to keep it for another 200K and am willing to fix the head ( cylinder that blew was second from left in the front bank ) but I think there are underlying problems, not necessarily causing the blown out spark plug but if I'm going to spend 2K on it, I want to make sure i'm not going to need a new motor like the OP in this thread. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for the long thread, need my baby in top running order.
P.S. does anyone feel the Rv6 pipe has anything to do with these problems ? Thanks Chris

Have you seen this thread below?
Check your factory installed plugs!!!! (click here)
Sounds like the same issue to me. Please note that the above thread relates to the middle plug in the front bank too like in your situation.
