K&N problems read! CONSUMER ALERT!

The TL K&N filter does not fit correctly and you may be taking non filters air into your engine!

Here is the part number 33-2078
I used this part number on my 2004 Acura TL A/T

The top of the air box does not fit around the filter correctly causing the filter to bend and maybe have holes in the seal that will cause a leak.

Here are pictures. I am going back to my stock air filter. K&N should have done more R&D

Here is the top housing of the air filter

I called K&N and the support engineer I spoke with told me to take the filter out of the car and return it to where I purchased it from. The engineer i spoke with could not tell me when a new filter would be available for the 04 TL.Called AJ USA and spoke to them and they agreed to take the filter back and give me a full refund.

Bad advice on trimming the corners of that filter.

Now that K&N has back pedaled on the filter and is advising people to stop using it, if continued use results in engine damage, K&N won't stand behind the failure and neither will Acura because a non-stock filter was used.

K&N will be trying like hell to dodge liability for any engine failures that may result from the poor fit.

To TOMMYY2:

I bet you'd be glad to know that the problem has been fixed. There is a new K&N air filter part number (33-2299).

I've used K&N cold air intake and Denso Iridium in my supercharged Integra and both products improved the performance! The Iridium offered smoother acceleration from any platinum plug I've used. Iridium is a better "metal". Check out the FAQ at Denso and read the tuner and performance sections. http://www.densoiridium.com/faq.php

AFE does not make air filter for 2004 TL.

So much for AFE.

The K&N I put into my old '88 Accord 5MT coupe really helped it! At first I didn't notice a thing, but some days later when I got on the highway in 5th & went to pass, the boost was pretty noticeable. Additionally, my mileage increased by 3-4 mpg. I can't document the boost I felt, but I can document the mileage increase.

x1 phoenix down to this thread, not sure if it was worth the gil.

anyways what filter or intake system would be recommended? i'm going to stick w/ the oem filter until one responds with a set up that doesn't have the grit and dirt damage of the valve overtime like w/ the K&N as stated on page 1

and i have seen some damage from aftermarket filters in the past on some peoples cars in auto classes or what not
