Talking nitrogen in the tires?

Anyone hear of nitrogen in tires enhancing performance? My dealer was pushing this on me saying how great it was for the performance of the car and tire life. Anyone know anything about it?

I have nitrogen in my tires. This is taken from the place where I go to have wheel/ suspension work done:

At your option, for a nominal charge, Butler Tire can inflate all of your tires, as well as the spare, with 99% pure nitrogen. Nitrogen is more stable and will not increase in pressure as your tires heat up, so as you drive on longer trips, your ride will stay more consistent. Additionally, nitrogen is much less likely to permeate through the tires, thus eliminating the need to check air pressure regularly.

Because pure nitrogen contains no moisture, filling tires mounted on chrome wheels has added benefits: no moisture means no corrosion, so you can rest assured that your wheel and tire investment will give you many years of trouble free service.

I can tell you that my tires have not lost a single psi since I have had them filled with Nitrogen. I am sure some will tell you that it is not worth it. If you have the extra cah go for it.

When I purchased my TL it can with nitrogen as a standard feature. The dealership I purchased from puts it in all their cars. The company that they use is called NitroFill. Best part with this NitroFill company is once you register your car with their site you get free "top-offs" and other services for free for life. So not a bad deal. Check it out if you can.

As previously stated, nitrogen gas in passenger car tires does have benefits, but they are pretty marginal. Remember, regular old air is 78% nitrogen. If you buy tires at Costco, they will fill the tires with nitrogen at no additional cost. Now that is a bargain!
