New J-pipe and hi-flow cats. (Pics)

What I had was rv6 precat deletes, XLR8 jpipe, test pipe, then stock piping with Magnaflow resonator and Magnaflow mufflers.

My rv6 precats cracked at the upper weld so I decided to go with hi flow precats instead.

Crack in precat delete

Now heres my problem. The Rv6 v3 j pipe is longer and has different bolt pattern flange than the end of the XLR8 jpipe. So I guess teh best way would be buy a flange and have it welded on where the pipes line up?
\

New and stock

Will post a sound clip next week when I have time to finish it.

Must've sounded like shit with that cracked pcd. And I don't know why the flanges would be any different?

Oh I see now. You had the shorter j pipe with no third cat, so it looks like someone cobb welded pipe right to the end of the j pipe.

It sounds better than it did with the PCDs to me although It feels like i lost some lost top end power. It got rid of most of the rasp but i still get rasp between 3500-4000 even with a magnaflow resonator which surprised me. Ill post a video In the next couple days when i have time.

Man those old jpipes look like pretty poor designs compared to the new stuff. The old ones don't look a whole lot different than stock pipes.

Were those V2 (or V1, V3) PCDs?

How many miles on the PCDs before that one cracked?

What kind of engine mounts are you using (OEM, XLR8, Innovative)?

Are you MT or AUTO? Do you have a stock rear torque damper?

About 10k but it cracked due to bottoming out on a pothole.
Engine mounts are OEM. Stock rear torque damper and MT tranny.

Just means without beefier engine mounts, cracking will occur.

Ok, thanks. RV6 that using an incomplete set of aftermarket mounts will cause them to crack; that's why I was asking.

Also, I'm surprised that the new setup is giving you rasp.

^ not by much, possible drone to no drone if you have it or not. All depends on your exhaust set up with a resonator or none.

if you have a "rattle" at about 3200-4000...that isnt rasp.

thats a rattle.
and can be cured by performing a neat little trick while installing the jpipe.

wedge a piece of card board in between the J's.
or where the two "J" pipes touch.
then bolt it down from the pre-cats.
remove the card board and VOILA!
