Thumbs up New to the forums, got some ?'s!

Hey people, i recently traded my 04 lancer evolution for an 05 black/black AT TL because im going to have a kid and needed a bigger, more comfortable car. No regrets thought yet sometimes when i get punks next to me i wish i had my evo . So is it true that TL's are underrated making only 258hp instead of the claiming 270hp? Also what are the best springs for our cars? Tein s tech? and i'd like to purchase the a-spec lip kit/spoiler from ebay since its way cheaper yet does anybody know any reliable vendors with quality products? Thanks for the support and help in advance, this car is pimped!!!!!!!

Whats up man welcome to acurazine. Congratulations on the purchase of your TL.
You could start with a set of the tein s techs and an injen or aem cai. Theres certainly a lot less aftermarket products for the J32 juxtaposed to the 4G63, but you can make do. Just remember if a lancer rolls up next to you...be mindful theres no chance. haha.

Get all your stuff from Acura of Escondido on the internet (ebay). They have everything you could want posted (Comptech exhaust springs, etc. and ALL the A-Spec kits and parts WAY cheaper than you will get it anywhere else. They sell it all together or by peices. I got mine (body kit) there and then had the body shop install it for me around the corner from where I live. They only charged me $160 to install it, said it was listed right in the book too! They just installed my A-spec suspension and Comptech Sway bar yesterday (charged me $260 for that - but was better than doing it myself in 95 degree days!) I also have an 05 auto TL. Highly recommend the suspension set-up. WAY better than stock...reduced roll BIG TIME! I love driving this car now!

thanks for the help people, now i feel welcome haha. So abotu the suspension, even though it is a worthy upgrade, i dont think i need it since i'd rather go for a show car than a race car so i will only get tein s springs. Thanks for the ebay vendor, is that the name he goes under? Also whats the best leather cleaner? im currently using meguiar's gold leather care and works fine so far. Is there any better one because i've heard our seats MELT well catch ya later

With regards to your HP question, I believe the manufacturer rating for the AT might be slightly overrated. I haven't posted it yet, but I dynoed my car this weekend at a local shop that had a dyno day. I have no engine mods, but wanted a baseline plus I've never dynoed a car before and it was a good learning experience. I'm a little embarrassed to post the numbers, but will do so if I get an overwhelming amount of inquiries. Let's just say I wasn't happy and that there was close to a 30% loss. There are factors that attributed to the loss of HP, including temperature (99+degrees), the tension of the straps that hold the car, etc. btw - I have a 2005 AT.

Also, try the Lexol leather cleaner, I use it on my Camel interior and I'm happy with the results.

On another note, those Evo's are sweet! I can understand why you made the decision, I have a 21 month old, but I'm sure it wasn't easy to give up those keys.

Good luck and welcome to the forum!

yea man the evo is a nice car but had now choice. I will get an evo eventually though but we'll see. How come you lost so much on a FWD car? maybe yuo should try another dyno since they all read different. I dyno'd my evo on a mustang dyno and dynoed about 290whp then i used an awd dynojet and dynoed 340whp so it's a big difference you know?

Not really interested in dynoing the car again until after I do some engine mods. She runs hard, but a 30% loss is unacceptable. Try ebay for the A-Spec kit. There are some Acura dealers, specifically on the West Coast, that sell genuine Acura parts on ebay. You're probably looking at $800+ for the body kit w/o spoiler.

Please post it. If you happen to get a cold air intake, please dyno it again. No body on this forum has been able to get a baseline dyno of stock and then a dyno w/ a CAI. It's important to use the same dyno for both. BTW, what kind of Dyno was it on?

YES....ACURA OF ESCONDIDO IS THE SELLER NAME OR HIS STORE NAME ON EBAY. I NOTICED EARLIER THIS WEEK THAT HE IS ON VACATION THIS WEEK AND PULLED HIS STUFF DOWN SO PEOPLE WERE NOT WAITING FOR SHIPMENTS ON ITEMS WHILE HE WAS OUT....NOW THATS A KICK ASS VENDOR (AND NO....HE DOESNT GIVE ME ANYTHING FOR ALL THIS!)

OK....I CHECKED IT AGAIN....HIS SELLER NAME IS "AOFEPARTS"
LAST THING I BOUGHT FROM HIM WAS ITEM #7981641435 (COMPTECH) or ITEM# 7927257348 (ACURA SHIFT KNOB) - if you just do a seach on ebay for either of those item #'s in the search blank it should take you to his ebay listing where you can then hit the "SEE SELLERS OTHER ITEMS" OR "ENTER SELLERS EBAY STORE" button to check out everything he has to offer. He has most of the Comptech stuff....all the A-Spec stuff.....I have bought most everything I have for my car from him - and I am in Indianapolis - he is West Coast! He will beat or be competitive with most of the stuff you can find out there...and it is all GENUINE ACURA PARTS or COMPTECH PARTS! I heard from somebody else on this board that they received their A-spec kit and there was a small scratch on something...and the guy 2nd dayed out another BSM kit for the TL....personally....never had a problem! All got across the US in good shape undamaged! He insures most of his shipments anyway I think.....

I don't have the dyno results here in front of me at work, but we did like a total of 9 or 10 runs on the dyno. The reason was that the shop had never dynoed a 3G TL. The first few runs were real low, around 175 - 180 hp and 160 torque. Then, they changed some settings and we were getting 170 hp and 300+ torque, which was way off. Then, after changing a few more settings, we were between 190hp - 195hp and 165 - 170 torque. Questionably, my last run was the strongest of all. I've heard that normally the first run would be the strongest, but that may only be with Turbos??

They dyno was a DynoJet and it was using the SAE (.99).

I'm definetly considering a CAI, not sure if I should wait for the Comptech and have it installed at the dealer (Warranty issues), or get an AEM and install it myself...
