Our cars don't have any performance chips available for them and parts aren't cheap either. I wish I had a TL when I was 16! Stick to general maintenance and maybe a sway bar.

What's your budget and are you an auto or 6MT?

16!?

that means you're still in high school.
you may have a part time job.
which means; you're likely not be able to afford much modding. but that's okay.

remember, this car is an entry level luxury vehicle. it doesnt have much aftermarket support.
Furthermore, the maintenance is a killer too. if your car isnt in tip top shape, it would behoove you to get it in tip top shape before you even start modding.

If your mommy and daddy pay for mods; then fuck what I just said above and get mommy and daddy to buy you cool ass shit.

OP, first off Gratz and Welcome

Now, I advise you to read as much information on this forum. There is a sticky on the first page of the performance section. Since you are interested in performance, scroll down the threads in the performance section and read. Also, check out our vendors directory; as well as the black market for some good deals.

Maintenance over mods

To answer your question directly:
Cheap intake - ebay and build your own or remove your intake resonator (since our cars actually comes with a "CAI").
Exhaust - greddy, tsudo, endlessrpm, or comptech (if you can find one) or the big bucks Tanabe, XLR8, RV6, or ATLP
Chip - there is no such thing as a chip for the TL. I suggest you read Hondata, but if you are auto; it wont work for you. Other option is J&R MS3, but they are hard to find and there is really no support for that system (its a DIY).

Before spending a ton on the exhaust if you care decide whether you care about looks or go fast mods.

The difference there is either you look cool and are slow as shit or you have a car that can take a corner fast and can handle.

Mods change based off your goals. Personally I'd say look for a nice set of wheels (do your research). Don't cheap out. I know you're 16 but you can afford a nice set if you care to do so. Look for TUV approvals.

Tires. Your friends won't notice it but you sure will.

Suspension, your friends will notice it, but depending on how low you go you may or may not ruin your car. TL are usually really low to the ground and you don't want to start scraping your car all over the place. That's when rust sets in.

My advice, drive, figure out your car. Figure out what scene you want to be a part of. The guys that stand by their cars or the guys who know how to drive well.

Mods are only worth it if you know how to make them work for you. But that's just me personally :P

Maintenance should take precedence over modifications, as others have said. But if your car is all up to maintenance, we can get you great deals on a number of products.

We sell our XLR8 exhausts either resonated or non-resonated and they are all T304 stainless steel, mandrel bent, high quality exhausts.
XLR8 Exhaust Systems - Excelerate Performance - Japanese and European Performance Specialists!!

Look into our V2 J-Pipe as well. It will give you great power gains and sound good too. It might be more in your price range.

As for a "chip", there isn't one. As others have said you should look into the HONDATA Flashpro. We have a great sale price on it right now, PM me for more info.

How Cheap? I sell magna flow mufflers that you can add on for sound, if you want performance you will need a full catback.

intake i sell and recommend injen because I love the sound. Another popular one is the aem v2 intake.

Exhaust won't do much but a J-pipe that eliminates the 3rd cat will give you noticeable gains. If you have the base TL, upgrading to the TL-S anti-roll bars will help your car corner flatter-I paid $160 for the pair at my local Acura dealer. Just those two mods will be relatively inexpensive and make your car a bit quicker and handle a bit better.

Hello everyone I'm also relatively new to the forum and I can also use some help, I drive an 04TL auto, I just bought the car about a year ago and unfortunately had a blew head gasket and now I'm dealing with the headache. Since I have to rebuild it anyway I thought it will be a good time to do some upgrades, I already took the engine out and send the block to a machine shop to get the decking and the line bore done, the heads are being refaced and port and polished. I need some advice as far as internals: pistons, rods, crank... I was thinking of going with RL cams. Any suggestions from the experts will be highly appreciated. I've been doing tons of research but since is an auto transmission it seems like my options are very limited please help

RL cams, J37 intake and TB, port and polish lower runners, 3 or 5 angle valve job on the heads, all should help while the engine is out. Stock pistons, rods and crank should be fine.

I forgot to mention I already have the air intake, port and polished runners, cat delete, j pipe and xlr8 exhaust. I've been thinking of using RL internals but I'm not quite sure if they will fit, any advice? Any other j series internals that I can use, or am I better off just staying with forged stock internals?

Why not just do a 3.5 or 3.7 swap? Be a lot cheaper than boring and stroking what you already have.
