Need TONS of advice for my new '05 TL

Hello fellow enthusiasts!
I just bought my first TL, after yearning for one for years, after being deployed for two years I finally got the cash to afford one (single mom, two kids, you do the math lol). So, just bought her two weeks ago, and she is pretty! '05 TL, 6sp manual, ALOT better than my '91 integra I owned when I was 16. Pretty much I'd like to know anything and everything that I can do to make her faster. She was bought with some mods already on her, she has an AEM cold air intake, and she has this wonderful sound to her, not too much ,just about right, and I'm not sure if it's the intake or exhaust. Haven't quite had the opportunity to get up under her yet (Frederick isn't the BEST city for mods) so if you would please pretend that I'm a newbie (which I am) and I have no idea what you are talking about (bc I most likely wont). I know a good deal about cars, bc I did an engine swap on my teggy, she came with a B16A1, i put a B18C5 in her and threw an intake, exhaust, headers on her. I'd like to do the most horses possible but without the turbo or nos (i'll be driving my babies around in this car, until the rover gets here). I have a buddy from overseas who is here with me, and he insists his 4 cylinder, no mods civic will whoop my V6 TL, so I'd like to shut him up, maybe make him cry a little lol. I'm already looking into headers, although I had seen a post (who the OP might have been wrong) but that the 04 and later models cant have headers?? or something to that effect. I know I'll need an ECU, and basically anything else you can throw at me would be good. I have been thinking about putting a turbo on it, but I'd rather not have to deal with all the maintenance with a turbo, perhaps a supercharger? Like I said, can't get too much info from the guys around here so I turn to the pros (you guys ) to help a girl out. At first I'd like a list of mods to make, then from there I'll get into brands, etc. I'd also like an estimate of the horses gained, WHP, if possible, thanks everyone!!!

(Oh, and btw, I've done my researched and spent a few hours on the threads, but I'm not down on the lingo yet, so I'm catching some stuff here and there, but thought it'd be better to just ask, again, thanks!)

Oh yea

Does anyone know where I can get smoked out headlights/tailights (not tint)? I'm pretty sure I've got HIDs, but I'd like brighter (not bluer) HIDS....thanks for the info guys!

Oh wow. Wall of words.

If money was no object here's what I would get.

RV6 V3 jpipe
RV6 PCDs (pre cat deletes)
RV6 true dual exhaust
J&R ECU
P2R TB spacer and gasket
IM spacer
UR underdrive pulley
BISIMOTO staged cams
P&P Intake and head

After all that you have a fully bolted on and better breathing engine that will throw down some power. I'm sure I missed a few things on that list.

Thanks

Thanks! Any guess on the WHP increase with that entire system?
I just ordered the RV6 V3 jpipe and pcd combo, and put a deposit down on the true duals, can't find the ECU, found the throttle body spacer on amazon (legit?) what's an IM spacer? (dont judge me), where's a legit place for the pulleys bc I found a few, but don't want to be ripped off. which stage of cams would go best with this set up? also couldn't locate the manifold and head. Thanks for all your help!!

the pulley you an get from XLR8 or heeltoe.
i would personally not get the throttle body spacer --> no proven gains
there are a couple options with the IM spacer. there's the p2r gasket, the outlaw engineering spacer and then a mdx spacer.

First off welcome and you are already on the right path with what you have just ordered....

The complete whp gain you are looking at from what Octagon posted is well over 300whp....I believe a member on here (Gerzand) hasd a TL 5at with tune and cams and fully bolted he was making 320whp from an automatic so since you are 6spd TL you should be higher than that at least.....

The ECU you want is the JnRECU but I believe at this moment he is not taking new orders but you can see.....

Xrl8 a vendor on here sells the UR Pulley as does heeltoe I believe.....Good luck and just spending some time on here you will def learn alot

oh IM means Intake Manifold spacer, also that is correct as your TL does not have headers, hence your order of the PCD is you downpipe right out of the cylinder heads to the PCD and you V3jpipe and the the catback

as for what stage I believe Stage2 bisi cams is what a few have been ordering but I would get in contact with Gerzand and pick his brain as he is only one I have seen post some numbers with the cams installed

oh and also do not forget to look into Dieting your TL....search for Inaccurate's TL Diet thread and see if there is anything that seems like you can live without and shed some weight off of her!

Good luck and keep us posted on your modding journey.....btw love how your previous ride was an old school DA...I had a DA9 Teggy(91') as well with a B16B swap!

And your stock TL will murder his Civic, so everything you are getting is overkill for him ha. You are right about the header portion, they are casted onto the block, so really the exhaust mods are Cat converters, J pipe, and exhaust. BTW where did you deploy to if you don't mind me asking? and welcome back

AEM V2 intake, XLR8 V2 J-Pipe, XLR8 Aluminum Pulley, Progress Rear Sway Bar would be the first mods I would recommend.

By the way it looks, go one route and shoot your goals at it. If you started out wanting power, go straight unto going turbo route. Save the extra worthless parts on tuning, tires, clutch, etc. Buy Happy and be sure to list what your goals are and how deep of a pocket you are willing to finish the project.

Yeah, I'll burst his/her bubble if I could. I personally don't like going all motor on anything over 3000 Lbs of metal. But the outcome is different and looks like the OP is power hunger, which would be a good fit.

She is power hunger to a certain degree however she is considering the factor of her children......so boost may not be a good fit for her.
