Need new Engine Mounts
Need new Engine Mounts
2006 TL have 55k on it, already need an engine mounts.. was wondering if any of you Ziners have the same issue. Also what brand and sites would you recommend to purchase it from. The Dealer is willing to install an aftermarket Engine Mounts
Thanks in advance
Thanks in advance
Im gen2 and our front motor mount goes out any time after 50k miles
Typically found when trans fails and someone looks up at the mount for the first time
Gen3 has a special vac assisted mount too, to make it smoother at idle, so a mystery vac leak can occur with failed mount~
Use the Acura/honda mount from the dealer --the only aftermarket ones Ive seen are solid poly filled and wear out fast, plus transmit a lot of vibration to the cabin
Stay stock on this part
try one of the sponsoring dealers for a price, and see if your dealer will match
Or have a private shop do the install for you--if acura wont budge on helping with the cost

Get these mounts. They will help transfer power the wheels better than the OE mounts (you will have a bit of vibration but not thing crazy due to the polyurethane mounts). They have a lifetime warranty from Innovative.

I know you said you only had 60a's, can you get 75a's?
Trending Topics
I have the Black 75A. Comparing comments from those that have Red 60A to my 75A, the vibration seems to be the same amount. IMO, these mounts (both 60A and 75A) are "hardcore"... not for the timid. But, the advantages are there if you are into "performance" (and the associated compromises). I am very happy with my 75A mounts.
Although opinions vary on if a break-in is needed, mine were crazy-stiff when I first installed the 75A mounts. The first time I started the car after installing them, I shit in my pants..... and you know that I am *not* timid. I thought to myself, "hell, no damn way, these pos has gotta come back out". My car was shaking like a Top Fuel Dragster.
In retrospect (looking back on it), I did make one mistake during install. I had disconnected the battery for safety. However, I did not perform the "idle relearn" procedure. So, my engine was idling at very low rpm's while the ecu struggled to "learn" on it's own. This low-rpm idle produce much of the vibration. And combined with the new (not broken-in yet) mounts, it vibrated like a Top Fuel Dragster. I mean that in a "bad" way, not in a "cool" way. It was uggggllly.
But, I had wanted solid mounts for many years, long before Innovative decided to make these. So, I gritted my teeth and gave them a chance.
After a few hours of driving, the ecu finally learned how to properly idle. That helped a lot with calming the vibration. It still had intense vibration, but at least it was not like a Top Fuel Dragster any longer.
After approx one week of driving, the mounts became much less harsh. The vibration was very much noticeable thru the car seat (my racing seats). But, that was ok. Sorta like a vibrating Lazy-Boy chair. Just what a person needs while driving home. Seriously, it was sorta relaxing to have vibration thru the seat.
The vibration would visibly rattle the dash and produce rattling sounds from within the dash. If you are bothered by rattle sounds, do not get these mounts (60A or 75A). You will have new rattles that you never had before.
I have had my mounts for 14 months. At this point in time, the mounts produce a modest amount of vibration, nothing compared to the first few months. Combine that with me learning to ignore the vibration, and the vibration is no longer noticeable to me. However, I *do* still notice the advantages. I love the solid feel that the car has; I love the way that the mounts made the engine sound (transmits audible engine sounds into the cabin -- a good thing); I love the improved traction ( I feel that they contributed to making my sub-5 0-60 run).
The mounts are similar to starting a new love relationship. It is a little "rocky" in the beginning, requiring compromises to be developed as each party learns and adopts to each other. But, in the long run, things work out for the better, and you are happy that you endured those early hardships in the beginning.
After living with these 75A mounts for 14 months, I would immediately purchase another set of 75A mounts, without thinking twice, if something happened to my current set.

Forgot to add on very important point. Any and all vibration is just while idling. Once the engine comes-up away from idle and/or you starting rolling forward, there is just the slightest vibration. And, you can't feel any vibration once the car is past approx 5 mph.

60A is a street bushing and is suitable for most daily drivers and most TL owners, 75A is a street/track bushing, and 85A is all track.
Yes those are in the works. They are almost done.
The dealer installed my INNOVATIVE MM 60a for $255 (all 3)
Very happy how solid it is, and creates a bit more aggressive sound. I am sure after a while it will readjust, where it wouldn't shake as much.
The old Motor Mounts were COMPLETELY SHUT, I can not believe how bad they were. One mount was leaking, the another mount was completely destroyed everytime I'd go over a bump it would HIT (clunk noise).

Not less vibration, but the same amount of vibration between the 60A and 75A after being broken in. I've had my mounts in for a while now, and I can tell that my mounts are softer than they were when I first installed them. They're "broken in" now.

when i start my engine, it seems like I get a thump as it kicks on. I think this may also be the motor mounts. Or at least 1 of them. Isnt that great. my car has 51k on it, but its been doing this since 36k. I dont really know how to check for bad motor mounts (yet)
^ motor mounts are such a pain. probably the side one, as the one on mine was the first to go out. i replaced them im mounts, but as of recently, i've been getting some wheel hop - maybe they've gone bad? despite, check for LEAKING around the mounts (check side first Chad). they're sealed and shouldn't be leaking at all, check your master vac too on top of the block, towards the right side; it's the line that goes DOWN and is in the middle of two other lines.
i didnt know a motor mount had fluid or lubricant inside it. So, also the master vac is new to me. vaccum? whats a vac? I dont know anything about a mount that has oil in it. I will have to read on it. Is side one on the drivers side or the passenger side? =)

I was just about to order the Innovative Motor mounts since a mechanic said mine were all shot. The engine is putting pressure on the J-Pipe and it is ripping. im sorry i have to pictures. I noticed the kits on the site say they do not come with the from mount, this is making me very hesitant in buying. Can someone please help me? Josh, I would like to order these asap but want to know alittle more about why the front one is not inclluded. Pm me please.
Tripnbeats,
Did you get the Black 75A or Grey 85A ?
75A = street and track vehicles
85A = designed specifically for race cars or drivers that seek a solid engine mount kit.
If you have the 85A, please write-up a review for us.
