Need new brake rotors
Stick with blanks. Slotted and/or drilled will only provide improved looks. Performance benefits will be non-existent on a street car and will only serve to accelerate brake pad wear.
As for pads. I've been very happy with the carbotech bobcats. I have the 06 MT w/brembo front calipers. The carbotech's have been on the car for about 6 months. They don't dust nearly as bad as the stock pads and have *MUCH* better initial bite. They are not race brakes, but you don't need race brakes on a street car.

i upgraded to the Racing Brake rotors and matching ET500 pads, and love them. they look nice and are a HUGE upgrade over stock. i had the upgraded aspec pads, but this setup is still a notch above that.
I went with Rotora slotted and the H2 ceramic pads. I only have about 230 miles on them but much better bite over stock. I am very happy and think I made a good choice so far. Yes slotted will wear pads faster so depending on the mileage I get out of these will determine if I get slotted again.

i have an AT so i dont know from experience, but i have seen others using the 2-piece rotor setup and they have seen great improvements. i dont think RB has the 1-piece rotor replacement for the MT, only the 2-piece which are $$, but they are really nice. and i hear the stock setup produces a good amount of dust and at least from my experience these pads produce little to no dust. i picked mine up from heeltoeauto.com. here is a link for the Brembo owners:

if you have stock AT brakes and want to upgrade to a 2+ piston setup, then you will need a "kit", but if you just want to upgrade components then you can just pick up rotors and pads like i did. this is far less expensive and unless you race for a living, its really all you need. i had never touched the brakes before i did mine, it was an adventure. its not hard to do but its good to read up and make sure you have all necessary tools and equipment before you start.

No you do need a Big Brake Kit. You can get just an OE size performance disc like the ones available from ROTORA or STOPTECH.
