Need more horsepower

hello, im new to this.
i recently purchased an acura tl 2007 3.2l base with a 5 speed auto trans and 36k miles. it still smells new. i really love this car. got a good deal too. i bought it from my brother who has a junkyard for all import cars. it runs great! it is a performance, luxury car for sure. it has great performance but i would like it to have alot more horsepower. i really don't know what to buy, or in what combination. also, i'm afraid if i start changing parts, i will get a check engine light or really mess up the electronics. the most i can spend is 10-12k. considering i got the car for a good price, i don't think thats unreasonable. of course, i would like to spend less if i can.
can anyone please help me decide what to buy.

You have $12k to spend on performance? You should have some good HP options. Turbo supercharger both will help bring the hp levels up.

I would keep the money in the pocket for sure haha...
Check out the black market, you will come across parts for much cheaper than retail.
I would highly recommend an aftermarket Jpipe and exhaust combo, no check engine lights or any problems, just more horsepower and slightly better MPG.
I have the RV6 V3 jpipe which deletes the 3rd cat and a Tsudo cat back exhaust and my TL pulls in 3rd gear like its in 2nd gear.
Expect less gains with a 5AT transmission.

So when you added the long V3 RV6 J-pipe you deleted the third cat and still have the other 2 cats? Does it pass emissions ?

It will pass emissions since the primary cats are so restrictive with a 900 cell count. The third cat is a less restrictive 300 cell count. It was only put there to make the TL an ULEV. The only way you would not pass emissions is if they do a visual inspection under the car and actually know what they are looking for.

If your thinking of spending 10-12k go turbo. Otherwise just fully bolt it on, then port and polish the intake mani, runnners, throttle body, then cam and tune it. Thats the all motor way.

PM us with your vehicle info and how much power you're looking to make. Your budget will allow you to do just about anything. We can do basic bolt-ons for a fifth of that budget or forced induction with a 10-12k budget.

You and I are essentially in the same boat...but mine is a year newer with 10k less miles and I don't have the budget.

Just having gotten rid of a Supercharged car, I would say that the type of power adder you decide on is dependent on what you want to go for...
Do you want big horsepower for street/quarter mile racing? Do you want the sound of the blow off in between shift at high RPM? Then go with a turbo...

Do you want instant horsepower for closed course, or autocross type racing? Do you want the whine of the belt? Go with a Supercharger...

Its a shame they don't make a centrifugal S/C for the Acura...you could the best of both worlds!!

Bottom line is, call Rodney.

If you really don't want to go to $10-12K, go used SC.

If you don't mind spending it all, then go turbo.

In either case, you should go with the J&R ECU.

From what it appears, the SC will limit your HP by the limitations of the blower CT supplies but can be fixed with a larger blower. If you dream big HP, the turbo seems to be the ticket. But it will cost more than $10K.

If this is a DD that you rely on to get to work, then you might want to think conservative.
