Need help with AEM V2 intake!
Need help with AEM V2 intake!
Hey guys, I have an AT 08 TL-s with an aspec lip kit on it. I bought the aem v2 intake from excelerate performance and installed it. The filter ends up pushing down against the fog light causing it to be incorrectly aimed upward. Unfortunately, there is no way to move the intake back as there is no room. I can't move the bumper as this would cause it to be off square and would look bad. Anyone else run into this issue? If so, how did you fix it? The V2 was listed as a fitment for the accord, but not the TL-s. I was told by many on here, plus the guys at excelerate, that it would fit (and it does...... kind of). Unfortunately, the aspec kit is making it tough and making me wish I went with a different intake.
I installed the AEM V2 in my '05 TL with the A-spec underspoilers on it. Didn't have any problems, bolted right up using the attachment on the intake and fit perfectly.
No fog lights in the bottom on mine though.
Did have to move the ground cables per the instructions.
Not sure if much is different in the later models, I also have the base 3.2L not the 3.5L type-S.

Stupid question but I have to ask, Did you remove the bumper when you installed this? Just saying cause some of us here did that (myself included) and luckily I didn't have any fitment issues, but if I did, I would of been able to spot it out. As you said though its causing your drivers side fog light to be incorrectly aimed up.
IIRC, the inside of the AEM filter has a stopping point in the rubber housing, to prevent you from putting it too far on the pipe. Maybe you can shave that down and insert the filter a little further into the pipe and clamp it down. Now I don't know this will impact performance, but its worth a shot if you want it to fit. Also if you do go with the aforementioned technique, don't stick the filter soo far up the pipe that you actually choke off the intake.

I only took the bumper off partially (unbolted the driver's side). Did you take it off completely?
yea u gotta take it off completely bro. it only takes 10 mins tops. 15 if its your first time. i have an 07 TL-S and i took my bumper off. Fit perfect. did you move your ground wire and bolt it to the right hole via the AEM instructions?
Yeah i moved the ground wire as the instructions said. I have the type S aspec bumper though. IDK if there's less room for the intake as compared to the oem one.

the aem v2 is supposed to hit the foglight housing. mine was fine, it just left a small dent on the filter since the foglight housing is stronger than the filter. as for the aiming you CAN aim it correctly, just use the adjustment screw on the bottom of the foglight housing, always worked for me and it will work for you if you do it right.
I looked on excelerateperformance and saw this works for my 07 TL-S A/T and looked at part number then plugged it into ebay to see if I could get a better price saying it was not right fit for my car? I don't understand this if the model numbers are the exact same? anyone care to help me out?
