One of my friends told me that a resonator wouldn't do anything for this setup is that true? I'll post a higher quality one on youtube or something

Ask your friend what they think a resonator is for?

I've got a pair of Aero Turbines that sound a lot like your setup. I added an AR-30 and it calmed things down but not enough for me. So I am adding another. Getting the sound you want is really trial and error. After going through this twice, I can see why manufacturers want so much for a good sounding catback.

My first catback I ended up with a truck muffler in the middle to get what I wanted.

I hear Aeros are good at quieting down and reducing rasp.

They are not that big and the first one took care of 90% of the rasp so I think putting a 2nd one in will be good. There's not a lot of options under there so it'll either go right behind the 1st or in the area where the mid muffler used to be.

Yea AERO's are great resoonators and it will get rid of ur rasp. Even though i went with a magnaflow resonator (#10416) almost any good resonator will take that rasp away good luck!

I've read about the aeros from other threads, but will I need one or two? Might as well get it done once rather than paying two times

It personal preference. I started with one, most of the rasp is gone but it's still too loud for me. So I am waiting for the 2nd to arrive. I've got the luxury of having a pipe stretcher and welder so I can do it myself.

A resonator makes a big diffrence i took my mid muffler off and resonator and it was loud. Then when i added the j-ipe it was too loud so i ended up putting a resonator on sounds way better... Waiting for my RV6 exhaust..

i would do a custom setup up that way you can add whatever you want resonator or mufflers and TIPS (love burnt titanium).

i have been thru all this before. started off with an resonated XLR8 type-s exhaust. resonator on that thing did nothing cause it was TINY. ended up putting on a magnaflow res and then adding ultra vibrant one after the first one didnt satisfy me. right now i love my setup. its not loud but has a deep tone to it. ive seen and heard all but the tanabe and this new true dual rv6.

list for me loudest to quietest is

Greddy Evo 2
XLR8
ATLP
CT
Tanabe

Not sure where the rv6 would fit in there but im guessing between the ATLP and CT from the clips ive heard.

I need friends like this
I like the sound but i guess I could understand toning it down a bit since it is an everyday car and not a track car.

Yeah I mean the tone is very manageable if you give it maybe 1 percent gas and slowly work up to it, haha but I don't really get hassled around here about the sound.

So are the mufflers just welded to the stock pipe or do you have different/larger piping from the J pipe back?
