My AEM v2 Install
I purchased my v2 from Josh at Excelerate in the last Group Buy (Thanks again, Josh!). Took a while to get to me, but I was pretty far back on the list of 25 or so. Noone has that many CAIs laying around, so no problem there.
I used the 2 threads in the 3G Garage to remove my bumper and install the CAI. The instructions were clear and concise and were better than the instructions supplied by AEM! Thanks SanDiegoMan for those DIYs!
OK, pics first, comments below:
First impressions--I like the color. Its just an RCH off of my AM and really looks good in my engine bay.
Installation was MUCH easier than I thought. I actually did it by myself---my first engine mod! I had a bit of help taking the bumper off and inserting the CAI (to prevent scratches) but it was mostly a one-man job.
I got a bit confused on the OEM hose removal, but just sit down, look at everything and figure out what went where and you will be fine. (Of course, if I labeled everything before I started, I wouldn't have had to worry!)
Performance: This is where I need a few days with the unit before I can comment fully. Initial reactions---yes, it is loud. But only when you're riding it hard. Drive normally and you'd never know it was there. Step on the throttle and she lets you know she's there. Like others have said, 2500-3500RPM is when you notice something is different, then it screams above 4500.
The biggest difference I can note (besides noise) is that my throttle seems a LOT lighter now. I do a lot of highway driving and bought it more for a potential mileage increase rather than horsepower. Hopefully, the lighter throttle equals more MPG. Time will tell.
I HAVE NO WHINE/WHISTLE/SQUEAL-whatever. Nothing. I suggest those that do have the whine look at a couple of things:
1) Make sure you did not crush the O-Ring on the bolt in the front of the unit. Hand tighten only and just until the O-Ring is seated properly. Another slight turn and you'll crush it and it pops out of the channel, potentially letting air suck in.
2) Check your clamps at the throttle body and top of the intake. Make sure you have at least 1/4"-1/2" of the metal beyond the clamp to make sure it won't leak. Also note there is a rectangular mark cast on the throttle body. Do not place the adapter beyond that mark---just butt right up against it and tighten it down.
One final note, I had to remove the battery to install, necessitating a radio code reset. When I opened my glove compartment, I noticed these stickers:
Well lookey there---they're my radio codes!

Bottom line--The V2 may be a bit wider (and slightly more difficult to install due to clearance issues) and I believe it may be a bit longer than the V1. There are plenty of threads dealing with the V1 vs V2 question---check them all out.

Quick update
OK, so I have finally heard the whistle-whine-squeal a lot of people are talking about. It sounds almost like a turbo unit spooling up (or down). It is noticeable (for me) right around 2000RPM but is very faint---it really is not that loud at all and I have to strain to listen for it. It is reproducible.
To be honest, I don't mind the noise that much--it really is not intrusive at all to me. Given what others are saying, mine must not be that bad and I can live with it.
Another note: it appears my gas mileage has increased significantly--by like 3-4mpg. While still too early for a final verdict (I'm still in the honeymoon stage with the unit and ride it pretty hard just to hear it roar !), I am hopeful for a consistent increase in my mileage. I'll keep you posted.

Here is the KP rollup DIY in the 3G Garage: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/kp-technologies-window-roll-up-module-install-3g-garage-i-097-a-596643/
I know its a lot of reading, but go thru the instructions themselves on the first couple of pages. I posted #375 which points out the picture that I found to be the most useful when I installed mine. You will love this mod---its something you use every single day.
I'm not sure about your question on the P2R, although I believe it will not work without some modification. Check the 3G Garage for more info: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/3g-tl-service-department-aka-garage-questions-answers-check-here-first-553557/.

has anyone modded their bumper so when it rains/ snows, the filter doesnt get wet? I just installed a fujita cai but am trying to find ways to avoid having a soggy filter after driving in bad weather.
i thought about installing a heat shield so water doesnt hit the filter directly but im not sure if that will really work
