Why wont this work for the 04-06 Acura TL?
The 07 Acura TL was the first TL to use the CAN programming protocol. This allows the ECU to be programmed in under 2 minutes and easily recover from programming mishaps such a drop in battery voltage or accidentally disconnecting the FlashPro during programming. The 04-06 TL ECUs take much longer to program (making them less suitable for dyno tuning) and are susceptible to damage rendering them unusable should the programming process be interrupted. FlashPro cannot program ECUs using the earlier K-Line communications protocol.

If they release something for us it will probably just be the FP + a checklist of needed parts and installation steps. I can't imagine they will have a "kit" with the ECU and immobilizer, etc. It'll be the same as it is now, but, officially tested and endorsed by Hondata. IMHO.
Buy up the 07 ecus asap! Lol

Well and even IF thats true then you still got the whole deal with the immobilizer (either buying them both off the same VIN or taking it to the dealer and swap there so they can reprogram the newer ECU to the older car on the spot). Ugh! I've been thru the latter before and its not cheap.

They currently do TSX swaps
Part of the upgrade is to take your car to a dealer and have them pair the immobilizer to the ECU.
OR, do like I did and do it yourself with an HIM and the proper software. I am using my original keys.
This is specific to the 2006 so this could be different.
Just passing on my experience.
I went with a MT ecu which was hard to find used and I ended up going new. The benefit was I programmed my VIN as the first step. Will be interesting to see if Doug was able to use an AT ECU.
Also to be CEL free, at this time you need a fuel pump control unit. But knowing Doug, he'll figure out how to disable it as he did with the 2nd temp sensor.

Lol, I'm pretty sure "this Doug" knows what he's doing. Relax, he'll update this thread with information as things progress and information becomes available.
And as far as expense, yes, it is going to be expensive. Figure $700 for the Flashpro, another $75-100 for the harness, ~$500 for a new ECU, an hour labor at the dealer for programming, and ~$500 to get dyno tuned. Or, with a bit of luck, you could find a used ECU and then self tune, but since you have a S/C, I'd definitely find a good tuner.

The AEM harness was $150
Tuning can be $200 if you use VitViper
If you are willing to research an HIM can be around $100 which circumvents the dealer
Still not cheap though

^~20HP?
It's not really about gains though. It's about the curve. It'll feel soooo much better driving.

I mean we supposedly just saw 10HP gained on a stock car in this thread. I would imagine doubling it for a fully bolted car isn't too much of a stretch.
I thought I remember people gaining about that with the MS3.

Read the thread. The tester car, stock, gained 10HP.
You won't care about gains once you see how it feels to drive though.

Just seems like a lot of money for something that's so subjective. I agree with you though, the feeling and butt dyno are much more how I've quantified any of my mods in the past (obviously since I've never actually dyno'd and have some power mods).

This is more for tying together all the loose ends from bolt ons, eliminating rev hang, V-tec dip etc and making the car more enjoyable to drive, along with a small boost in power. It certainly isn't going to be a high power per dollar mod. 10 peak whp sounds excellent to me, but I'd love to see the graph.

Why would it double for a bolt-on car that's making ~15% more power than stock? ILC only got 8 whp from Flashpro on a fully bolted Type-S and King Kong Dave (sp?) got like 4-5. And all those dynos showing killer gains with the MS3 were hosted by Rodney, and we all know how much he can be trusted, lol.

For myself and my fully bolted 07 6MT type-s the overall peak gains are not as important to me as fixing the the above mentioned issues of rev hang, vtec dip, burpy idle, etc. Rev hang has gotten much much longer and worse with pnp and ZDX throttle body to the point where it almost makes me slip my clutch on every shift. A good tune would be a blessing.
Something else that may interest you guys in regards to the capabilities of the stock ECU with a truly fully bolted car. After full exhaust, my bank 1 sensor 1 O2 sensor went bad which is responsible for air/fuel management. One would be under the assumption that the stock ECU would default to a rich base map to err on the side of caution. When I replaced the O2 sensor, I also replaced my plugs. Surprisingly, I was running considerably lean.

Assuming the stock ECU defaults to a base rich map, you've gotta wonder how rich the stock ecu will go with a car fully opened up on the exhaust side and PnP IM, TB, runners. I think flashpro would be advantageous for anyone that has any bolt ons.

i highly doubt this will give 20 hp to a fully bolted TL, i'm guessing 10 max like others have said, but like them i agree the benefits are much more pronounced in the driveability and the smoothness of the car (no vtec dip is a huge difference). at least that's how it is for us 07-08 guys with Flashpro and I don't see it being much different for the earlier years.
exciting that they are developing this for the 04-06 guys!
