Looking for more power

I got a 2005 Acura TL 6 speed with navi package and I'm looking for more power not trying to pay like 5gs for a supercharger or 500 for a j pipe I've already deleted the resonator and muffler and changed the tips but I'm thinking of deleting the cats on the headers has anyone ever done it ? Notice any power gains ? Know anything else I can do ? Let me know thanks.

You're not going to get much more power or probably even noticeable increase in power without a supercharger

correct me if im wrong but i believe replacing your downpipe and doing a precat delete will be the most effective if a supercharger isnt what your looking to do.. you'll get the most gains from a aftermarket downpipe over other bolt ons

You're not willing to pay $500 for jpipe for more power?! It's the best bang for your buck if you want power.

Tell me, what's your budget and how much power do you want? Because they're positively correlated, more $ = more power.

There's no free power in this car, only dreams are free.

Pretty ignorant statement and simply not true. You can get a decent normally aspirated build and get 300hp+ at the wheels, which should be good for mid to low 13s in the 1/4. Evans tuning went all out on their j32 and is pushing 420whp, which is much more than the puny little CT supercharger option. But it's not cheap.

The jpipe is worth every penny and you can get this ATLP V2 J-Pipe, 2004-08 TL & TL-S UA6 UA7, ES0004V2 - HeelToe Automotive for only $350. I bought mine almost 3 years ago and love it. Gave the car a nicer exhaust "tone" and you could see a difference in performance, and another plus I was after was i gained +1 MPG I soon after bought a Megan race pipe for $75 to delete the 3rd cat, and that also helped with the exhaust note, and somehow gained another +1 MPG to total 30 mpg's So if there is any mod to put your money toward it would be the jpipe IMHO. You gain Performance and MPG, if you can keep your foot off the gas There are also many dyno runs you can find that show their performance gains.

Our V2 J-Pipe may not be the cheapest, but as with most performance products - you get what you pay for. Our V2 J-Pipe is made from from U.S. grade stainless steel, manufactured here in the U.S., doesn't throw a CEL, has great fitment, and has been dyno proven to gain hp and torque. We have it available for $475 not including shipping.

Not true. Turbo and/or nitrous notwithstanding, full bolt ons and tune will produce around 50 whp.

Who told you cams were the best way to start? Cams/head work should be saved for the very end. There isn't even any empirical data available to show what Type-S/RL/MDX cams are worth, power-wise on this platform, let alone aftermarket regrinds or billets.

Best way to start is by ditching the stock precats and j-pipe, then doing the whole 3.7 swap, ported runners, larger cold air intake, after which you can bring it all together with Flashpro. Those are the main power adders. The pulley and cat back will help as well. Do all this and drop a couple hundred pounds and it will be noticeably faster than stock. It'll also be louder, slightly rougher and your wallet will be a lot lighter. If you're not willing to go all out, I'd personally keep it totally stock.

May not be what you're wanting to hear, but you have to pay to play. If you aren't willing to do the Jpipe for $450 that's fine, but you may have bought the wrong car...

The TL has no headers. The exhaust comes directly out of the head. If you remove some of those bends with a new j pipe and remove the cats, you're going to see an increase in hp.
