K & N filter help

I read the threads on the filters old and new. The new part# post in the thread is 33-2299. Well today I went to various parts stores and ended up in Strauss where they had the K&N book next to the filters. I looked in the book for a '08 TL-S and it said the part number was 33-2379 not 33-2299. And actually the part # 33-2299 is for the RL. Is this true? Cause in the "Old and New filter" thread it states that K&N told that member this was the new part number. I'm a bit baffled on this I don't which one to use.

If you have 08 TL Type-S then it has to be 33-2379...

I checked on their site and if i remember correctly that part # is for both the base and type-s. I just want to be sure. i'm gonna use a drop in for a while cause I really don't want to mod out just yet on the motor and screw up my warranty

Well, I have 07 TL-S, and I bought my K&N filter from Amazon, when the price went down to US$ 40.00

I haven't put it in my car yet, would wait till next service...

Supposedly next month or when I hit 24750 miles, but, ever since my last oil change and I used Castrol Sync, my oil life is still 70%, therefore, I guess it's gonna be a while till my next service, I'm projecting it'll be mid summer...

BTW, my oil filter is also K&N, that's what I used along with Castrol on my last oil change, around 20,000 miles...

Dude, if you have TL-S, try Castrol, you'll enjoy your TL-S even more...

Cartsol is all I use anyway, and I use K & N oil filters too. My teg loves castrol too. I just wanna use a drop in for the time being until I get a cold air intake down the road.

I also have been playing around with the idea of getting a K&N drop-in filter for my OEM intake on my '06 base TL. Can anyone comment on the difficulty of the install, and also if it will be a direct OEM replacement fit? I definitely don't wanna screw anything up...just want some extra breathability and punch without the whine of a CAI. (Maybe I'll do that later...I dunno.

The air filter is a simple drop in. Just take out your old one and put the new one in. No tools required.

Thanks Lynx. I figured it was easy, just wanted to confirm. I might do this mod...or possibly just say screw it and get a CAI instead. Damn modding bug...hah!
