What performance enhancements will this give me? Have a 2007 TL-S for just a week. Sorry pleading ignorance here.

 

Having a K&N filter in a stock airbox will have minor performance gains, but they will last indefinitely if you clean/oil the filter probably once every other year or so. (depending on conditions, mileage, etc..).
