K&N CAI???

Okay I have an 06 TL and I was wondering about CAI's... I'm totally into K&N filters due to the fact that their air filters are reusable and overtime saves me money. So I sense I want a K&N CAI... But I am wondering how does it compare to other brands? I have K&N air filter in my motocycle and it's the only one I have ever really needed cause I just clean it and reuse. But for CAI's are concerned I'm wondering if I should take this route for my car. Both Air filter and CAI is what I am planning to get. Any recomendations of feedback would be good before I go ahead and make my purchase. Also the best place to get them online. I live in Hawaii so everything is pretty much expensive here. Thanks to all in advance.

Well I have read a LOT of things and overall througha variety of indapendent testing and stuff K&N is consistantly one of the worse filters out there. The AEM dryflow at the moment is filtrating the highest percentage of particles out there. The other nice thing about the AEM is it is in fact a dry filter. The K&N being a wet filter is notorious for ruing MAF sensors. Of course someone like you who has been using them for a long time wont over do it but the problem is that a lot of people over-oil them and it runs up the intake, gunking up the MAF resulting in failure, around 300 bucks or so for the new sensor. From everything I have researched the best two intakes for the TL are the AEM CAI and the Injen CAI and from what I have read the AEM is the winner.

Yeah. On my motorcycle I tend to not over oil. I am very careful with it. I guess the only benifit I am getting from it is the fact that I can reuse it over and over again. Thanks for the info. I will be going with the AEM CAI for my 06 TL. Would anyone know where the best place to get it online? And how about air filter?

I can see how people would over oil if they haven't cleaned them before. I've had the K&N on my TL for about 50k miles and no problems. Honestly though, I'd find the CAI that costs the least and put that on. I think AEM is the least expensive at the moment.

You do know that it comes with an air filter right?
Thats what TLFourplay was talking about when he said the AEM & Injen are the best filters.

Yeah I meant to put all that in one sentence but it came out wrong. What I really wanted to say was where is the best place, best price for the CAI and if need be when it's time to get replacement filters for it. For some reason I still am so into K&N because to me savings is much more of a benifits then a few horse power. I mean overtime I can save hundreds of dollars. But then again I do want to have horse power gains nonetheless. Seems like I can get both from a K&N (Money savings overtime cause reusable filter and horsepower gains). So where is the best place, best price for CAI's for out TL?

I have a universal K&N filter on my TL at the moment with a custom SRI setup. Haven't had any problems at all. In my opinion, go with what you've had good experience with.
