JNR vs Flash pro

I'm wondering which is better the hondata flashpro or the jnr ms3 ecu .now that the hondata has a 04 adapter it has become an option for me. Just looking for insight and why one is better than the other as far as features and tunability. Thank you

Flashpro cuz people can actually help you tune it. Not everyone knows how to tune a mega squirt. Also you dontn have to hide that big ugly box any where.

19 year old disclaimer: You're looking at upwards of $800-100 total for Hondata and a tune.

Huh? OP has an '04.

Flashpro: $695, harness: $350, can adapter: $50, '07-08 ECU: $200-400 (used vs new), tune: $300-500.

$1600-2000 is more like it.

I didn't read that close. I left variance in the tune cost for Vit's etunes vs paying $400-500 for dyno tuning.

The answer to your OP is flashpro and ms3 are the same but ms3 doesn't allow for idle control. All else is equal, but FlashPro appears to have more support than megasquirt.

Sigh OP it would be best if you actually visited hondata website and megasquirt website and read your info. Compare them and see which one is better suited for you or search here on this forum. It has been discussed in this forum through serveral long threads. One for Hondata and for the MS3. Are you tech savi? Do you know how the megasquirt works? Can you tune it on your own because that is what the meagsquirt is all about a DIY standalone/piggyback. Go with Hondata and swap out your ECU to a 07-08. There is a thread in that too.

its nothing personal, BigJ.

just that there are threads on this subject.
there are two very great threads on flashpro

and there is a long, not so-great thread on the JNR.
speaking of which, can you even get your hands on a JNR?
I Know I got robbed and never received mine.

plus, with your ambiguous goals and your age, we already know the outcome..
no turbo for you, and if you can swing the $2k then its flashpro for you.

welcome to the world of spending thousands of dollars on not-even worth it gains

nobody is being a prick. this is the internet...don't take it so seriously man.

you asked a question and i suggested you search because there are already threads on these topics with plenty of good info. hence, no need to regurgitate it here for you in a new thread. you can just go read it yourself.

pro tip. use google and search what you want to know and add 'acurazine' on the end of your search query and you'll find the threads much easier.

There's a ms3 in the blackmarket but I'm not so sure I would let myself tune my car.

Send me a PM or an email. We'll get you everything you need. I would highly recommend the HONDATA Flashpro for many reasons including support, price, ease of use, availability of tuners, availability of product, etc etc

Amen.

Leave the TL stock and just keep it well maintained. It's a nice car just the way it is, especially for a 19 year old. Save the money for school or real estate.

Hondata gets my vote. Doug is a great guy and there are endless tuning options. You can probably go to any shop with the FlashPro and have someone able to tune it. The MS3 on the other hand, is more difficult to tune, and the 'creator,' is not even around. Hondata would be the smart choice.

Rodney didn't create MS3 he just ported it for us.

OP: Unless you're boosted, a big NA build, or fully bolted, save your money for other things right now. This can come later.

I would go with the Hondata.

However if you're bone stock and you plan on getting Hondata to get more power, you might be let down. For $700 I would go with PCDs + J-Pipe.

Worry about Hondata after you get most bolt-ons so you can make the most out of them.
