J&R Turbo Install - 2004 TL 6sp Seattle

I'll be curious to see what you do about an intake. I was told that certain filters would fit on that exact setup, but after attempting 3 different setups, I was told that NO filter would work on this setup. (And, in fact, that filters were a "no no". Direct quote.) With an HKS SMF filter directly attached to the turbo, I experienced boost surge, and with a custom, 4" intake, the amount of boost I was pushing would suddenly collapse the silicone and completely starve the engine.

Found some of this juice while picking up some DOT 5.1 for my clutch, so I grabbed it. I'll let you know how it works out. I had the dreaded 3rd gear issue so I hope it doesn't return. If it does, I have the GM stuff to replace it with.

I had the 3rd gear issue as well and was using GMSMFM which worked great with all the standard bolt-ons and moderate power. Only changing due to extra power with the turbo. Did the tranny rebuild with new syncros, so hopefully 3rd gear issue won't resurface. Fingers crossed.

Now that the ECUs have shipped out and clutch kit has arrived, my build should be wrapping up shortly. Have made a few additions: oil cooler, catch cans, fuel return kit, TL-S FSB (will run progress RSB on stiff), TL-S pads/rotors.

This is sad to hear. Is the car still with Rodney? I would try to part out whatever you can on the black market The turbo kit is worth a lot of money and I would hold out for the right offer on that if you can. If you can make a list of all the parts you have in the build in addition to the ones already listed, that will help to keep from leaving anything there.

It truly is sad. Yes, still with Rodney. Maybe it's best to put the car back to stock and sell the parts on the black market. Trouble is the car is in Florida and I'm in Seattle and work is crazy busy right now. Guess I should have gone with a local shop, eh? Live and learn.

Did Rodney just stop working on it or where you trying to do something crazy that you lost interest in? It seemed like you were going to have a really nice car. Do you have any interest in have the car finished at a shop closer to home?
It's a shame to lose all this money selling parts very few are hard core enough to run without having been able to enjoy such a nice build.

wtf is going on here? I heard Rodney had some personal issues that incidentally fucked over some members. Did he purposely defraud members for his gain? He seemed pretty genuine getting a kit together and helping out members with their builds early on. Now he's rolling in a 458?! Somebody clear this up before we head to Florida to kick his balls out of his mouth.

If this is not true, it's not good to try and piss people off. If it was my car and money missing and I saw dude bought a new Ferrari I would be in Florida in hours and I'm sure I'm not the only one. I have a feeling you're instigating.
#103
Did you have anyone locally in FL monitoring your build process for you?
Hope you get everything resolved.. Its not just the two years its the amount of money that went into this from what I read on this thread..
Looked like it was going to be a hell of a car.. Good Luck!

Wow 2 Years, don't know how you did it! I feel like it's almost to late to turn back now. If I where in your shoes I would get it back to Seattle and take it to speedfactory racing to finish it up.

I read through this entire thread getting more and more excited to see numbers and how it turned out and was so bummed to find out two years later it was never finished.. :/
OP, sorry to hear the news and I hope it works out for you in the end! Best of luck!

There are other threads with full builds..

I know. I've read a lot of them. Even ooo'd & ahh'd over a couple. There's a slue of great information here. I just like seeing different people with different builds and their own progression. Seeing what route someone chose versus another.
