J-Pipe Question

This is probably a very lame question that has been talked about a lot.. but.. I couldn't find it by searching.

Anyways, if I put on a j-pipe without doing precat deletes or anything else besides mid muffler delete/resonator, not touching cats in any way (probably do high flow later but that's another topic..) would I still pass california smog ?

Sorry if this has been asked a billion times.

Yes, as long as you don't touch the cats it's legal.

It is an easy install. Make sure you spray the bolts with PB Blaster or some type of penetrating oil. Let them soak & they should break free.

I have a similar setup on my 06 TL 6MT. I have a mid-muffler delete and i took out the stock resonator and put the dynomax one on. I don't have knowledge about exhaust systems much, but what will adding a j-pipe do in terms of performance and sound?

Technically it's not legal because it's still in front of the 3rd cat. But it's very unlikely a shop will notice and it will have no measurable effect on emissions.
