J-Pipe and 3rd Cat Delete

If I replace the j-pipe with an aftermarket one and go along with the 3rd cat delete as well but keep the stock mufflers/exhausts, will I get a different sound note/tone when accelerating?

I wouldn't mind a bit deeper sound and a tiny bump in hp, but I don't want much drone noise going on in the cabin.

Not sure if this is worth looking into though, my goal is to maintain a look of STOCK but have a bit more go, not so much show.

I want to at most keep Type S as is (with stock rims), but maybe add the j-pipe & 3rd cat delete, lower it mildly, and add the door visors. Only external stuff I've done so far is add a roof spoiler, and take off the front license plate frame to plug those bumper holes.

changing to an aftermarket jpipe will not introduce drone.

The V2 J-Pipe would be a perfect match for you. Since it deletes the third cat it will free up a noticeable amount of power. It won't produce any drone or rasp, but will provide a nice deep growl. You also won't get a check engine light, and you will most likely still pass emissions.

We have our stainless steel V2 J-Pipe available for $475 not including shipping.

Here is some advice i gave to another member. The jpipe is worth every penny and you can get this ATLP V2 J-Pipe, 2004-08 TL & TL-S UA6 UA7, ES0004V2 - HeelToe Automotive for only $350. I bought mine almost 3 years ago and love it. Gave the car a nicer exhaust "tone" and you could see a difference in performance, and another plus I was after was i gained +1 MPG I soon after bought a Megan race pipe for $75 to delete the 3rd cat, and that also helped with the exhaust note, and somehow gained another +1 MPG to total 30 mpg's So if there is any mod to put your money toward it would be the jpipe IMHO. You gain Performance and MPG, if you can keep your foot off the gas There are also many dyno runs you can find that show their performance gains.

I'm also doing the atlp v2 and I was going to add the optional race pipe to delete the 3rd cat. My one question is will that trip an engine code bringing a light on the dash or will it be all set?

no check engine light as there is no sensor on the 3rd cat.

The j-pipe alone is a great mod for gaining some power and really not changing the luxury feel of the car. Even with a cat delete, j-pipes will not be making a big sound change. Be sure to check out Heeltoeauto.com for all your J-pipe needs...we have them all listed in one place.

The primary cat fasteners are M8 and the ones to the 3rd cat and cat-back I believe are M10.
