J-pipe for a 2007 TL
Hey all just was wondering how much HP a J-pipe yields and is it at all noticable? What type of sound does it produce if any? I was kind of interested in one but wanted to know the benefits of one first? Thanks

First, before you get flamed, use the search function. This may very well be the most talked about subject ever. Lol
Second, 8-15WHP, a little more growl, possibly a little better mpg. And yes it's noticeable.

i bet if you search or browse through the 100000000000000000 million jpipe threads, you'll find the info you're looking for.
the atlp jpipe was produced in 2008 or earlier.
its old. and probably doesnt produce the gains you're looking for.
research the latest and greatest jpipe, rv6 v3!
and there are 1000000000000 threads on this pipe as well.

If I were to buy a jpipe for my 07 TLS 6mt right now I would for sure go with the RV6 V3. Newest design available, seems to have the best ground clearance, longest primaries, and eliminates that resonator or 3rd cat whichever it is.

Right on. That's what I did last week! It eliminates the 3rd cat.

When I first joined the 'Zine I did a lot of searching in this section of the forum and was shocked to see how many threads are started for the same topic over and over again.
My 32 year old ears don't really notice a difference in sound till I'm in the 3400 - 3600 rpm range. It only sounds better as the rpm's climb too. I've found myself driving more aggressive after installing this for the sound and performance gain.

That used to be true before the XLR8 v2 came out. I like the design and build of the XLR8 pipe better than the RV6 v3. If I were getting one I would go with the XLR8 new design.

I have a Acura tl 2008
Basically I want a lil more gains in hp or speed
My question is what jpipe should I purchase, I am worried out emissions out here in California. What is the best purchase for me without worrying about the emissions issue and smell that comes from the car.
Jus a reminder I have stock setup, with magna flow mufflers....should I even get a pipe and what else would I need if anything.

^thats from oils from your hands and a protective coating.
it burns off, hence why in a couple of days it goes away.
I believe he was asking if there was a smell associated with not having a third cat.
the third cat does not trap much smells, thats the job of the PRE-CATS.
as long as you retain the Pre-cats, you will have no smell.
kthxbye

^you're welcome.
btw, we have Houston meets all the time.
check out the region section and say hi to all the Houston members.
we can then further discuss how oils from our hands transfer to the pipe when picking it up
Richie and his GF/Fiance probably used their hands to pack the pipes as well.
no wait, Richie is a robot. he has metal hands.

Sorry but I wil only need a rv6 jpipe and no high flow cat?
With only the rv6 jpipe I won't have emission issues later on the smog test.
Thanx guys I'ma novice at this as u can tell
What does the high flow cat do then. Keep in mind I jus want the jpipe due to finances.

this is how our exhaust system looks like....
pre-cats-->jpipe-->third cat-->stock exhaust
if you were to get richies v3 jpipe this is how it would go
Pre-cats-->rv6 v3-->stock exhaust.
it takes out the 3rd cat.
so no, you will not need a high flow cat.

Actually our V2 j-pipe and the RV-6 V3 j-pipe eliminate the third cat, which is an emissions component. In some states it won't be an issues since it isn't a monitored cat but in CA it will be a problem.
