What type of exhaust do u have?
If you have stock you won't notice any change in rasp just a little louder...I have a comptech so I don't have to worry about that...I'm actually looking forward to being louder and maybe a little raspier...comptech is wayyyyy too quiet ...I used to have an xlr8 exhaust and got rid of it so I could get Richies pcds lol
lol passengers can deal...i hardly ride around with anyone except the girlfriend anyway.

i've got xlr8's non-res quad exhaust n v3 jpipe. sounds great as is.

however, i plan on selling the xlr8 and getting richies new exhaust down the line.

i doubt the smell would be any stronger in a TL with small bore injectors
right on...i never use ac either, always have the windows cracked. thanks for sharing your experience, veggie.

i plan on going with a full catless. mostly because, well i haven't had them for years anyways, and because i get the rotten egg smell if i do a 1st/2nd/3rd pull. and i know this option is cheaper than actually replacing with cats, or with oem cats specifically

The way I look at it is...I'm going fully bolted...adding enough hp to my pleasing and at the same time not making a semi luxury car smell from straight Pre cats. If the hfc version wasn't available than I'd def get the v3 no doubt but why not dish out the extra 200 and be contempt for good rather than having to sell ur V3 and buy HFPcds instead later on if ur already in doubt and torn between the decision
Yeah, if you've got the extra money and don't want to deal with rasp and obnoxious fumes, HFC's are the way to go. I've seen enough dyno testing to know the difference between a 200 cell metal cat and straight pipe is going to be ~20%, maybe even a little less. We're talking about a 2-3 whp difference in the end. You can pick up that by switching from dino to a high quality true synthetic.

I am also interested in the high-flow pre-cats. I really don't want to hear a raspy sound when I'm riding in a luxury car. Looking forward to seeing a dyno chart.

Couple questions about the hfpcs:
1. Will the car still pass an emissions test? Will it pass emissions if I am running the j-pipe in addition?
2. About how much should I expect to pay for install?

i have an 04 base AT, with atlp base exhaust non-res, atlp j-pipe and atlp hi-flow cat. i'm leaning towards the pcds opposed to the hfc, would i experience much rasp with the pcds?

While everyone waits, a question! The stock precats have studs at the bottom where they are attached to the j-pipe. It looks like these PCD's are attached to the j-pipe with nuts and bolts?

I checked yesterday they are starting to tap all the holes. I could get them to do 25 sets first. They had to machine one type of casting at a time. There are over 800 castings.

So the PCDs and HFPCs are threaded on the bottom holes and secured with bolts then?

Will be adding final payment option to the site soon. I will be spending the night cutting tube so my welder can get started ASAP. I am also sending the first set to be ceramic coated this week. After the first set I will have a final price on the ceramic coating. Thanks for your patiences.

^if installed correctly, no CEL will pop up.

might want to check your local emission laws tho...some states do visual inspections and more. my state just hooks you up to a scanner and if nothing pops up they set you free.

a lot of shops in my area pass you for an extra 50-75 bucks. small price to pay for having more power out of the car IMO.

i already have the rv6 v3 j-pipe and my tsudo cat-back so i wont pass anyways. im not too worried about that.

i just want the most torque but not too much rasp so im still debating on which one to get... v3 pcd or hfc???????

Search the forum. There are a few dyno threads with numbers before/after PCDs. No one has these yet, but they should put out equal if not slightly more gains than the previous PCDs. The HFCs should be within 3-4hp of the PCDs.

Also, everyone's setup will be different. Every catback is different. Each catback will react differently to each Jpipe. And in turn, will act differently with the PCDs as well. Just because someone else gained 15whp doesn't mean you will. You may gain 13, you may gain 17. They help a lot with top end power. If you have a 6MT, you're looking at 10+whp gains easy.

ok sonnick you say 3-4hp you mean less right? and what about torque? somewhere i read that maybe the hfc might even produce more torque due to some pressure? please let me know if you are aware of this.

yup im glad this can be done. only other risk is that chp is well trained out here on modded exhaust...

The new tube we are using is so thick it leaves a lip inside of the castings. In order to get a smooth transition I sent all the tubing to a machine shop to have them put a 45 degree chamfer on the ends of the tube. This makes for a perfect transition from tube to castings. My welder is welding the first 30 sets this weekend. Hopefully I can ship some out early next week.

When I pick up first 30 sets of PCDs ill drop off the cores for the HFPCs.
