Interesting tip regarding sway bar squeaks...

I was watching "tricked out" on DIY channel. I don't usually watch this show, but it was showing how to install sway bar on a S2000. The guy wrapped the sway bar with teflon tape (the same one used for plumbing) on the sway bar before installing the bushing. He said it prevents squeaks.

Hmm... I'll try that next week when the CT RSB gets in.

Doesn't the sway bar have some movement in the bushings? Wouldn't the tape either rip or prevent movement? I'm just trying to think this out.

It works. That's what I've done on Comptech Sways and urethane bushings. Did the same on my Neuspeed bars and no squeaks. The key is to wrap a thick enough layer. I have some thicker mil. tape that I got from Home Depot that works pretty good.

I would assume that you only wrap the portion that intersects with the bushings plus or minus 2 inches on either side of the bushings ??????

That's what I did with my RSB, too. I have no squeaks and it's been more than 1 year.
